I didn't even want to comment on the 70s and 80s being an easy time to get a job. Nobody with a grip on American history could say something like that with a straight face. Yeah those jobs getting shipped overseas were a great moment for our country.
And for somebody so invested and assured in Republican talking points, how has Abby not so much as volunteered for local Republican campaigns? That is like bread and butter stuff for eager young people looking to at least get their names out there. Or is this another great profile in keyboard activism?
If I hadn't already promised my weekends to volunteering with the Rainbow World Fund, I'd be volunteering with the Obama campaign. They've got a spot in the Castro.

I just don't understand why someone who claims to be so smart never ever proofreads what she writes. $300,00, is not a number.

abby--i once again encourage you to shake the yoke of your parent's influence.
when ppl on this board talk to you about the economic situation, they are actually only humoring you.
you mention the 70s-80s as a time of prosperity. actually, if you were as knowledgeable as you claim, you would know that this was the period where the gay community was being ravaged by HIV. during the initial outbreak, information and measures to prevent its spread were opposed by the religious right on the grounds that they would promote promiscuity (turns out they're still doing it). in hard terms, the religious right is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths that could have been delayed, or eased, or prevented altogether.
you are a long time poster. you must have noticed that people are always wondering why all the new shows are not comparable to the old. where are the innovative choreographers, lyricists, etc., etc. the general consensus, however subjective, is that they died of HIV.
now, you can disagree with people about the economy. but what you are insane to do, is to speak as if this community should welcome people like romney, ryan, bachmann, palin, who are cut from the same cloth of individuals who are directly responsible for the deaths of their friends and colleagues. that they should just forgive them and move on, even though those folks (like the disgusting billy graham) have not even hinted that they're sorry. the religious right should be apologizing for this awful behavior. they call me militant but i haven't heard enough apologizing for this hideousness, and i will never hear enough in my lifetime for all the lives they've ruined and destroyed and negated.
but instead of an apology, we have young people like you, who say, it was okay for them to behave that way. it was okay to let thousands of people die of HIV. people like you and mikey can then pretend that it's gotten warmer and fuzzier since then, but every bit of evidence is to the contrary. it's okay to boo a soldier who happens to be gay. it's okay to use taxpayer dollars to lie to him about his sexuality and give him junk explanations for it. it's okay to lie to children who happen to be gay about what it is and where it comes from. it's okay to lie to an entire continent and say condoms are worse than HIV. vote for that if you wish, but that just goes to show you can have a great education and still not know anything.
and the truly sad part of all this is... it doesn't need to be this way at all. there are fiscal conservatives like olympia snowe and susan collins who have reasonable social views. people like billy graham would never ever vote for obama, they don't need to be swayed or courted. instead, the republicans kowtow to this disgusting element of their party and let them run the show. and instead of punishing them for it, americans like you reward them for racism, bigotry, deception, misrepresentation, and lies. strong work.

“I could live on my own right now I just choose not to because I would rather wait until I have a more stable job, and that's what most people my age are doing now.”
Most people your age won’t take an entry level position. They think it’s beneath them. They are lazy and would rather live off of their parents than to go get an entry level position.
The very fact that you live at home (and probably do not pay what others would pay for rent) you have NO room to talk. Still sucking off of your parents teet.
I'm still waiting to what she pays for "rent" but she won't respond.
I'm going to assume it's a big fat ZERO.
Why do I have no room to talk? I work, I pay taxes, I have just as much of a right to an opinion as you. If you tell me I have no room to talk because I haven't had as much life experience as you because I'm younger, it just shows how small you really are. I only pay about $100 a month in rent because my parents realize I'm trying to save up to move to southern California, which is a lot more expensive to live than where I am now. But I pay for everything else too, I pay for my own gas, food, everything. They don't give me a dime. So don't judge me when you don't even know me.
Just because I still live at home, pay less rent than I might if I was on my own, doesn't mean I can't have an opinion about the current administration. Sue me, I think the economy isn't getting any better under obama. I don't have to be living on my own to realize that. I see people who own small businesses who are waiting until after the election to see if they will be able to stay open or not. If Obama wins many of them will have to close, or make drastic cuts because they can't afford to stay open.
Try paying a grown-ups rent. $100.00 is nothing.
Hell, my parents were charging me that much before I even turned 18.
You have no life experience and you spout Faux talking points. How is any adult supposed to be able to carry on a conversation with you?
**Oh, and I find it funny that you have an opinion on something that you know nothing about. Again, come back when you've grown up a bit. The points you bring up are not your own. They are cut and paste right wing headlines**
Seriously? So am I a lesser person than you because I'm younger and don't have as much experience? You are very immature for someone who has so much experience.

Sweetie, you might sound more adult if your comebacks weren't "you're immature!" What next? "I'm telling!"?
By the way, did you ever respond to the fact that you phony "ObamaPhone" link last night was an amateur paste up job? And that, you know, you didn't have the critical faculties to discern that?
Abby, just wait until you move to Cali, lose your job someday, and scurry off to get an unemployment check. But...you can't do THAT. That's not in the phony GOP playbook. I hope you go hungry.
Her next response will be:
'I'm rubber, and you're glue...'
" I only pay about $100 a month in rent because my parents realize I'm trying to save up to move to southern California, which is a lot more expensive to live than where I am now. Do you want a medal? Again I am in a similar situation where I live at home and pay rent. I save, work and look for jobs that are not in my skillsets but are a job to save, and I pay for all of my expenses. But let's not act like having SS take an amount out of your paycheck or the sales tax are like paying a mortgage here.
"I don't have to be living on my own to realize that. I see people who own small businesses who are waiting until after the election to see if they will be able to stay open or not. If Obama wins many of them will have to close, or make drastic cuts because they can't afford to stay open."
Okay, that is bull. First of all, if there are business owners that think the POTUS election where the fiscal budget does not go into effect until there is a budget signed into legislation in 2013 effects them now then they are really stupid and should not run a business in the first place. Secondly, local and state governments have an equal if bigger effect with small, local businesses as the federal government. If they are blaming Obama they have to blame the county they live in for not being small business friendly and the state government for supposedly not working in favor of entrepreneurship.

Yeah, show me a business that is doing enough business to need to hire more staff, but *isn't* because of something they're imagining, I will show a business run by an idiot. I don't actually think such businesses exist, but let's just take AbbbyFoxNewsFan's word for it.
GAWD! WHAT A DOLT.

Love the fact that she hasn't responded yet to the Obamaphone thing yet.
Abby...stop being a coward and answer us if you are really an adult and not some little twit still in High school.

the more you describe your life abby, the more you paint yourself and your parents as people who have been horribly misled into voting against your own interests. your job situation seems unstable and you sound too old to fall under your parents' insurance were the ACA repealed. if you were hit by a car, what is your parents' plan to pay for the expenses if you happened to be unemployed and without insurance? you do know the bill could run into the $100K+ range, right? does your family honestly have that kind of money just sitting around?
if you end up on a chronic vent, do you think it's fair for your parents to have to file bankruptcy to pay for your care? romney probably makes $100K after a few months of interest.
