Everyone that is eligible to vote, take advantage of the priviledge. If you can't vote, you can still make a difference by getting other people to vote.
I think these shirts are a really great idea. Let's try to get as many people actively voting as possible. Then, maybe, we won't have to deal with recounts again this year.
I'll be voting this year. I have a very short time frame from my turning 18 on October 24 to the register cut off date, but nothing is gonna stop me from kicking bush's ass!!!
I wonder if all of us new voters who were just in HS and to young to vote when Bush was elected will make a big difference this election. I hope it does.
If there's one thing that frustrates me it's when people don't exercise their right to vote. Augh! I won't be able to vote until the 2008 election myself, but you can bet I WILL be voting! Isn't it some 50-some percent of Americans who vote? It's just ridiculous.
I don't think people not voting caused the recount. People did vote, they just got messed up in the systems. But then again the Electoral College wasn't made to exist with a two party system...
Bythesword, trust me, voter turnout affects everything. In my town, an increased school budget was rejected by 2 votes. If three people who thought they were too busy to take 15 minutes (and that's seriously all it took, including transportation) to vote had just gotten off their asses and done it, their kids would have better schools next year.
Considering all the bitching and moaning people do about government, I'm surprised at the low rates of voter turnout in this country. Of course, the rate is measured in an odd way, which means that immigrants and felons depress the numbers, but still. Vote, people. After 2000, there's no way you can say your vote doesn't make a difference.
I'm not saying that a lack of voters cause the recount. I'm just saying that if the elderly in Florida are the only ones who vote, we're going to have problems again.
Good for everyone out there voting. Especially younger people. There are so few who are actively voting. I also have to say I commend P Diddy (or whatever we're calling him now) on his campaign to get people to vote. Hopefully he'll encourage a lot of younger people, as well as minorities who often don't get out there and express themselves at the poles.
