re: we must get rid of bush!

Next you'll get a PM from Roxy thanking you for looking out for him, he'll tell you he's got your back, he'll say that I have a vendetta against him, completely ignoring the five other people who called him on his crap in this thread (in fact, how did I get here, this is not my beautiful thread?) and he'll assure you he will watch out for you.

I know this because I once posted as a reactionary right winger and he got all buddy buddy with me. Chatted me up about "ol' Namo." Very funny. Then Rob got all "one person, one screen name" on my ass.

re: we must get rid of bush!

but papa.....is he really the leader of the "free" world? I'm not feeling to "free" right now. Bush wants to be sure I am less "free" than my heterosexual neighbors. Bush is leader of the US, for now. The rest of the free world will let you know if he leads them or not. So far, it seems that he actually doesn't. At least, they don't follow as willingly.

Matt, are you left or right? Or is that a new male version of Sideshow?

re: we must get rid of bush!

Do I have to be absolutely one or the other? I have differing opinions on different subjects. My whole family is like that. We don't fit neatly in one category. I lean a little bit left of the right. My brother is far right, with a smidgen of left. It's weird, but I can't always agree with everything on one side or the other. I know I won't vote for Bush. I know my brother probably will. But he's just as stubborn as me. He still thinks Rush is right.

Matt, I wasn't talking about politics. I mean your icon! Are you the one of the left or the one on the right?

I know the answer. To the icon I mean!

I disavow any knowledge regarding how Mr. Matt dresses!

re: we must get rid of bush!

That was FUNNY! It was a total sitcom moment. I'm on the left, visually speaking.

re: we must get rid of bush!

Not for nothin but I am REALLY interested in how you dress, WCA.

Now back to our program.

How many people think Bush is going to manage to get rid of himself?

Did anybody read the Vanity Fair article on the Diebold electronic voting machines? There are no paper back-ups. They are incredibly hackable. If "hack" is even the word. They all had the same smart card password, which supervisors knew: 1111. All of them. Everywhere.

There are people calling for the UN to monitor the election process in the US this November. Of course, that's too cumbersome. And won't happen. But there are NO answers to the tough questions the article raises.

re: we must get rid of bush!

I know that the marriage ammendment and taxes are the primary concern in this thread, but how about religious freedom, racial profiling, reproductive rights, censorship, education, social security, the DISASTER that is the economy, and the fact that every person residing in America has been consistantly and maliciously lied to by this administration. Oh if only I had a dollar for every lie this a**hole has told me (and the rest of the country).... But then, I guess that wouldn't help the fact that we are slam jammed in the middle of the biggest economic crisis our great nation has ever known. And how about the 4 (count them FOUR) close friends of mine who have been killed in Iraq? Oh oh oh..... And censorship laws that have been brought about directly through conservative propaganda and monopolies owned by the richest of the rich.... The very people that "Dubya" butt-kisses to get campaign money. Meanwhile, here we are, sitting around complacent and oblivious to the fact that our nation's foundation is crumbling and infested with vermin that make cockroaches look noble. I for one WILL NOT DO IT!!! June 8th, there is a march on the Pentagon to get our troops out of Iraq. PM me for the info if you really want to get involved.

Oh, and Roxy..... KISS MY ASS!!! Why don't you move to Canada, since you obviously care so little about America.

my deepest sympathies over the loss of your friends, tea.

"the middle of the biggest economic crisis our great nation has ever known"

it's not even the biggest economic crisis within the last 25 years. you do remember the great depression, right? or was that before your time.

cut and run is a most ignoble strategy.

re: we must get rid of bush!

Ah... I've fallen asleep at the wheel...
Thank God papa is here to provide a little bit of antagonist for this ensemble.

In my opinion it's too far along to address everything in this thresd, but I will say four things.

  • Regardless of what side of the aisle you are on, it is important to take part in the political system. I am mentally flogging myself for missing my local school board elections this week.

  • I have great respect for most of the people on this board... especially some of the more outspoken folks. I only hope that they are just as active in the "real world". You have to take part in your democracy. You can't be asleep at the wheel.

  • I will probably vote for Bush, because I believe that his agenda, for the most part, will pay off in the long run... for me. You will vote for Kerry, probabaly because he is NOT Bush. I am sure, should he win, that he will be one of the most forgettable, wishy-washy presidents in the history of the country... but he is not Bush.

  • I wish that someone would start a thread about the Kerry issues. Tell me what he has said, the promises that he has made, that make you want to support him. Or perhaps it is because he is not W.

re: we must get rid of bush!

CK - I admit freely that my attitude boils down to "anybody but Bush" - and that is even while fully agreeing with your assessment of Kerry. All my antipathy is derived from Mr. Bush's self-professed "faith-based" ideology. I find religion to be just one of many optional responses to the mysteries of life, and the notion of someone using what I consider to be nothing more nor less than mythology to control my choices is repugnant.

Ah, for only ONE Libertarian to break through to the mainstream!

ck

I agree with points one and two.

In terms of Kerry, I really like him. My vote will be pro-Kerry, not necessarily (just) anti-W

re: we must get rid of bush!

I am an active participant in John Kerry's campaign. If you need the info on what he stands for, it's all over the internet, and I could forward you the campaign newsletter from my inbox. I do not support him only because he is not GWB (although, it helps ALOT). He is actually a bit too conservative for my tastes, but I respect him, and there are alot of reasons why. I support him because he has the integrity to admit when he makes mistakes (you call it wishy washy, I call it considering the facts and altering your opinion if you feel compelled to do so once you have evaluated new information.... Which, by the way, is how social change is made, in my opinion). I support him because he addresses the issues I particularly care about, including, but not limited to environmental concerns, reproductive rights, civil liberties, education, downsizing the government, reducing government spending, raising (yes RAISING) taxes for corporations and the most wealthy Americans (who can actually afford it) to help us take control of this downward spiral in the economy. To see his plan, you can visit his campaign website www.johnkerry.com. But then, I'm a tree-hugging hippie liberal (about 10 clicks further to the left than a Kennedy) and I don't expect everyone to aggree with my opinions. BUT..... How can you say you'll vote for Bush, when he has repeatedly lied to this country and in doing so, in essence painted a giant red bullseye on it? That I just can not understand, no matter how hard I try.

And YES, I DO believe this is the largest economic crisis in the history of our nation. Why? Because our country is further in debt than it has ever been, the stock market is like a friggin roller coaster, so unpredictable that I can barely keep up, we are beginning to rebuild the job market at a snail's pace, meanwhile the value of the dollar is sinking like a stone. This crisis is worse than the depression because in the 1930s we were less of a global civilization. What happens here and now DIRECTLY effects not only Americans, but all countries that we support in trade and commerce. Yes, it is worse. MUCH MUCH worse. Because we are much much more powerful now. And it's not going to get any better until Americans wake up and realize just how bad it is and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! That means take responsibility for what is going on, and do whatever you think you need to to fix it. We probably could debate what steps should be taken all day long. Personally, I don't care HOW you do it. Republican, Democrat, Independant, Undecided, WHATEVER.... It really doesn't matter. I don't thnk GWB represents the entire republican party. I think he's just an evil little man who snuck his way into the Oval Office along with his zombie administration, and decided to obliterate the constitution and the security of our nation. I pray to God every day that he will not be there come November, but God won't cast my vote for me. I have to do it. And so should everyone else.

Cute, papa..... But HOPELESSLY FALSE.... *grabbing a razor* Time for a trim, I think. No more Bush. But I admire your zeal. And I think you've got a great sense of humor. But NO, I still don't understand voting for shrubbery (or the equivilant thereof). You know I just had to get my bra burning, neo-feminist, ultra-liberal point of view out there, but I'm not a nut case. I just get a little excited sometimes. I LOVE POLITICS.... as long as everyone knows I'm right. re: we must get rid of bush! j/k

Wouldn't that be a grand political statement that even I could get behind...

I will support a nationwide "No Bush" day, if everyone protests by proving that they really want to get rid of bush. Pictures will be uploaded to shornbush.net

re: we must get rid of bush!

Sweet Tea,

What an incredible response, I wish I had said it.

I agree with everything you said.

Now, can any Bush supporter explain in detail why they are supporting him?

It can't be the economy - thats in the toilet.

It can't be the war on terrorism - instead of going after Al Qaeda he went after Iraq, a war he had planned way before 9/11.Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 though he treid to make connections. He lied to the country about why we should go to war, and then had no plan for how to deal with Iraq afterwards, which left it open to terrorists actually going in and planting a foothold there.

It can't be his diplomacy - Thanks to him our standing in the world, including with our alies , is worse than ever.

It can't be his compassion - Instead of being president to all the people, he kisses ass with the religous right and is trying to push through an ammendment to the constitution that would take away rights.

It can't be that "I'm a uniter not a divider" - He ran on that promise 4 years ago, and then made the country more polarized than it was by ramming through partisan bills and not even trying to compromise.

It can't be his morality - He lies all the time.

It can't be his intellect - He is a man who prides himself on not reading and has the vocabulary skills of a third grader.

Do tell, what is it?
