Posted: 7/8/05 at 3:54pmI know what you are thinking: how are those two connected? well that's what I was wondering too. I thought I read somewhere on here that the RENT trailer was being shown Before the War of the Worlds movie. Maybe I'm wrong b/c I went to watch War of the Worlds and I was more excited for the RENT trailer only to be disappointed. So what movie is actually showing the RENT trailer?

Why would they show a trailer for RENT before War of the Worlds? Don't you realize that there is drug use in RENT and Tom Cruise is against medication?!

I personally think that Tom Cruise is so against drug use because he wants more drugs for himself. He is obviously on a large amount of them, that or he seriously needs to be!
Back on topic, yeah go see Bewitched and you should see the RENT trailer.

Posted: 7/8/05 at 4:12pmfrom working in the movie biz, i can tell you that individual theaters do have some ability to "switch out" movie trailers; usually after a movie has been open for a while. while some chains may be obligated to show a trailer before a certain movie, there are other factors that will affect what or how many trailers are shown.

Posted: 7/8/05 at 5:11pmI saw it in front of Bewitched too. I actually saw it twice, as my friend wanted to see the movie and dragged me along. We were in a different theatre number and they showed different trailers, however, the last trailer was the Rent one. Needless to say, it made seeing Bewitched twice very fun. =D

What's wrong with showing the RENT trailer before "War of the Worlds"?
They showed it before "Star Wars III". What's the big deal?

There's nothing wrong with it, but they're hitting the wrong demographic. While of course there are many people who see Star Wars and War of the Worlds who will want to see Rent, but a majority of the audience is not going to be jazzed by the trailor. Especially since the trailor is people singing Seasons of Love under dramatic walking/laughing/crying shots...not exactly the same sort of mood that the people are in who are about to watch alien robots eat people.
I saw it before Bewitched as well, and Star Wars (I reported when I first saw it how the trailor was booed by the audience) :0)

Posted: 7/9/05 at 5:07pmher the RENT trailer was shown before Bewitched, not before War of the Worlds

Posted: 7/9/05 at 6:21pmThey didn't show it when I saw WOTW. And I liked the movie :)

Posted: 7/9/05 at 6:47pmI saw it before Bewitched and was bugging out. lol. WOTW was pretty good, hated the ending, but it was nonstop action, which I enjoyed.

The whole shot of the family (grandparents, etc.) kills me because it's just so nonsensical. I think I had trouble enjoying the movie because for the first hour or so, everything is just so darn hopeless. I just wanted to yell at the screen, "YOU ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!!! TOO BAD!!!! WHY EVEN RUN?"

Posted: 7/10/05 at 3:01amThe son should've stay dead. When he came out of the house, I was like, WTF?
#20re: War of the Worlds & RENT
Posted: 7/10/05 at 4:21amWe as an audience can only handle so much cheese and plot holes. There's no way that darn son lived. Oy.

Posted: 7/10/05 at 10:18amThere was also very little character development. They keep introducing us to new characters, except for Tim Robbin's character, we don't know who they are or what happen to them. It's a very weak movie over all.
