Ha, I've done that before. This girl across the hall in my dorm loved Rent too and the two of us blasted Out Tonight in synch on both our stereos on repeat while everyone was getting ready to go out Friday night. Tons of fun.
I haven't been to the public library in..1 year or so. I go through my school library though. It's wierd because, I love books. My school library is getting new books (after about, say 15 years of having the same books...-_-) and I'll check out what they have. Hey, you never know.
I think I'll look up the books on amazon...it should have them.
Finger sandwiches? That just went over my head. But, my sandwiches were a big hit. It was my class right before lunch so, of course, I wasn't hungry. But the good news is that I had tea, scones, my sandwiches, cookies, brownies and other desserts. It was a good day. (Not that all of you care. I just had to mention it.)
Edit: I would just like to add that I and two guys successfully sang "The Internet is for Porn". I heard them singing it and thought: "A girl should be Kate." and before I knew it I was singing. It was entertaining.

hahaha that does sound fun! Did it take a billion tries though? Whenever I try to do that my friends we fail miserably. By the time we get the the music in synch we don't even care anymore.
No one in my school (besides my close friends who know about theater through me) listens to showtunes.
Grrr... middle school. And grr to rap music too.

Rap music is getting annoying for me which is really hard to say since I grew up with it. I'm just glad that I can save one child from that mess (my baby girl). she loves all kinds but I WILL get her hooked on show tunes!!!
just got back from ordering red light winter at borders :)
No one I know at my school is really into musicals. Well, there are those who have only seen Wicked because it's the big thing in Chicago, but my friends call my music crap. However, I ignore them because I love musicals and I'm free to be myself.
You know what's better than musicals? Grammar.
Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah.
There's something better than musicals?!

Started just seeing what was up here and I am gunna put it my school experience about this. My school is actually pretty good with theatre. We have our musical every year (this year Seussical) and I know a few people who listen to Broadway. Also everyone pretty much knows about Rent since the movie came out. You just here random kids singing Seasons of Love. Also my English teacher likes theatre and the arts. So far we have listened to cast recordings of A Christmas Carol and Titanic. It is quite fun and everyone enjoys doing it and singing along(she puts up the lyrics so we can see them on the overhead projector). Then there is the whole group who loves rap and thats all they listen to. I am not really friends with those kids and then of course we have the kids who listen to all the bands no one has heard of.
Wanderingchild5..Sorry to hear that people say that about showtunes. At least you know you can always come to BWW to talk about your showtunes.
Now I am going to be killed for my grammar? I dont even know if I am even doing any of this correctly. LOL.

That's seriously debatable, skittles. I'll give you gramatically-correct musicals, maybe....
Hmmm. A question that someone or other asked earlier about Anthony Rapp's book earlier was answered for me today. Apparently, the books now sold at Strand were *not* the advanced copies, but the "real" hardcover stuff that really shouldn't be on shelves now. I know because when I was waiting for the RENT lottery, a few girls were flipping through 'Without You', and drooling over the "pretty pictures". One of them was holding a 'Strand' shopping bag. I was left to drool over the cover. But tomorrow I'm trekking down to Union Square, the only Strand where they haven't run out, because I just can't wait any longer.
I'm proud to be the person to introduce showtunes to my school. Because of someone who influenced me, I am able to influence other people, who influence other people... and etc.
I would LOVE to have a school where theater is common. I wore my Defy Gravity shirt signed by Jenna Leigh Green, and everyone asked me why I was wearing a science shirt. *headdesk*
Mary, you're not alone. I think it's a Mary thing and we're secretly twins or something because our schools sound very alike. I've heard people call my music crap too.
Did I just hear that strand has actual copies and not proofs?

You should be proud!! I have seen a few girls walk around school in Wicked shirts. I am realizing now my school is more into broadway then I ever thought possible. Now I also see I am kinda lucky too. I think schools should mkae theatre a little more common.
Yeah Marlene, it's discussed more in-depth in the Without You review thread on the main board, I think.
Yes Mary, maybe we are twins! lol
I'm sorry about my grammar
*sobs*
but anyway do you think I should pre order my copy of Anthonys book? I'm afraid at the signing it might be sold out

If I were you I would pre-order, just in case. This is more because I wouldn't be able to *wait* until the book-signing to get my copy, though. I actually doubt they'll run out.
Don't be sorry, just write properly. It's not that hard.
Ok, Mary, what's you're favorite color?

Going back to Adam Rapp's work- I'll try to pick up one of his books tomorrow. He sounds like a great writer, and I need some new work- it seems as if I haven't read anything outside of BWW in forever. Any reccomondations?
Stone Cold Dead Serious and Nocturne. They're both plays.

Right, I knew that- Nocturne is the one-man play that Anthony was in, right?
Yeah, he was in it once. I don't think it's entirely 1 man...at least reading it they had notes about the original production having a few different cast members. I've never seen it, so I wasn't sure about how it was done onstage.
I had to quiet myself. I gasped loudly when I found out.
I felt like I was going to have an attack when I read this headline:
'Walk the Line' star Joaquin Phoenix flips car
He's okay. According to the article,
"The 31-year-old actor told police the crash occurred when his brakes failed as he was driving along a winding stretch of Lookout Mountain Road shortly before 3 p.m. Pacific time on Thursday, said Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Martha Garcia.""The performer's car overturned on a hillside and collided with another vehicle, but neither driver was injured in the wreck,""A police officer who arrived on the scene found no evidence of alcohol, drugs or criminal negligence involved, so the crash will be left to the insurance companies to investigate."
I'm very glad he's alright.
I just had to tell someone.

I'm glad he's all right, too. I'm not exactly a big fan of his, but I'm still relieved. This reminds me of all the near-heart attacks I would have when Matthew Perry had those multiple car crashes.
...sorry, inner Friends fan is leaving now.
Orange skittles, I vaguely remember Anthony commenting on the fact that the way Adam wrote the play, it *was* completely 1-man. However, in one fairly "mainstream" production of it, several other actors were added. Actors that were only supposed to be mentioned. Anthony expressed some displeasure at that, saying that he felt that the fact that it *was* only one person was a reflection on the character.
Of course, I may be talking about an entitely different play, but that's what I recall.
