Reg that is so true on SOOOO many levels...

Dammit these tingles are becoming all too frequent!!! I need a cold compress on my forehead.

Jane2, I wouldn't say that I don't care for it exactly...I just takes a while to get used to, so I always opt for some BBQ sauce on the side if the vinegar is somewhat overpowering.

Jane, there are a couple of places in NYC where you can find plausible versions of NC bbq if you're curious. I find RUB BBQ on 23rd Street to be most like what I knew growing up.

But there's nothing like the real thing. I can't get enough whenever I go home. Pigs tremble at my approach.

Oh, and hushpuppies! I forgot about the hushpuppies.

Sorry, I seem to have derailed this thread. Maybe BBQ deserves its own.

But you can file it under "Things I Like to Do."

Oh Reg, we're basically soulmates right now!! Hushpuppies? Shut your mouth!! Hushpuppies are one of the few joys of life. They make a dark sky bright and sunny, make wars cease, and help the hills come alive with the sound of music. They are magical like nymphs ( not to be confused with nymphomaniacs...which in their own way are magical too)

Tofu, I (very) occasionally make hushpuppies for guests, and they act like I did a magic trick.

They are tasty little devils!

ooooh, I LOVE hushpuppies!

This guy we used to go to the beach with when I was little (grandpa of the family we shared a house with) used to make the best homemade crabcakes and hushpuppies every year.

Restaurant ones are good, but they were nothing like Mr. Benjamin's.

Yes it is!

My grandma has a great recipe for bbq. My mom and I made it for my son's first birthday party. It was a huge pain in the a$$, so now we just do hotdogs and burgers.

I love the way my innocent little thread has hideously warped.

Every time my family gets together for Easter, we eat barbeque sandwiches. And EVERY TIME, my mom, aunt, and grandma each say several times during the meal, "In the South, we put coleslaw on top of our sandwiches!" I don't think I can express how incredibly annoying it is by just TYPING it. I actually like my barbeque with coleslaw on top, but I refuse to eat it that way in front of my family and give them that satisfaction.

You HAVE TO put coleslaw on the bbq!

I have a really good recipe for burgers that you put bbq sauce in the hamburger, and then top with melted monterey jack, bbq sauce and coleslaw. They are the best burgers EVA!

If I didn't have cole slaw on my BBQ sandwich, I wouldn't eat it.

In my spare time, I tend to build houses made out of chocolate for the homeless, write musicals like a musical version of "You Don't Mess With The Zohan", and make clothes for the "Barenaked Ladies".
