I had a 2002 PT Cruiser and drove it for 5 years. Even though it's not an SUV, it guzzled as much gas as my 2007 Santa Fe.
I'm done with guzzlers. And mine's only a "mid-sized" SUV.
My next car's a skateboard.
Aside from their appetites, my only other complaint about the Cruiser was it's turning radius. Because of the design, don't expect to be doing any graceful U-turns. But I loved everything else about the car. Great ride, and lots of bells & whistles (at least on my Limited Edition).
I now have a fully-loaded Hyundai Santa Fe, and it's great... but not worth it in today's environment.
I'm sure I'll go Hybrid next.

I have a 99 VW Passat and I love it. The next car I get will be a hybrid, but for now I'm happy with my car.

I've long since sold my car, but my last car was an '06 Altima, and I couldn't have been happier with it. Not sexy at all, but it had great pickup and got me through many a long drive on the Garden State Parkway. Oh, and I was in a bad accident in an '04 Altima (plowed into a vehicle making an illegal turn at 60 mph) and wasn't really injured at all, so I view them as pretty safe.

I don't drive yet, but I did have a nasty accident on my 6th birthday involving a truck and a bunch of drunk men in a hatchback. We were stopped at traffic lights, and yet we came out the worst.
Not my favourite birthday.

1996 Ford Escort wagon. Not fancy, but roomy, 30mpg. Designed and built in the USA.

It's my mother's, but she had toe surgery so put me on the insurance policy so I could drive her around. Poor woman hasn't been allowed to drive herself anywhere since. Not because of the surgery, you understand, I just love driving her car. :3

2002 civic lx. 38 mpg hwy. less when the ac's on, but still over 32. reliable and comfortable. it's not particularly speedy, but it can get up over 90 if it has to and can cruise in the high 70's low 80's easily.

I drive a 2002 VW Jetta, Diesel. Good gas mileage, but I am *Strongly* considering trading it in for a SmartCar.

I'm ashamed to say that we're currently a five-car household. That's what you get when your dad goes through a midlife crisis and decides he NEEDS a BMW convertible. Oh well, the mileage on that one is so abysmal that I got him to promise that our next car will be a Prius (once the old Passat wagon I drive finally falls apart).

1994 Ford Explorer.
It's pretty beat up, and has been driven around the entire country, but it still gets better mileage than any new SUV.

I love my Ford Focus (30 MPG) more than any other car I've had. So much so that I refused to put any bumper stickers on it until it was three years old. And then I went through a very careful selection process to choose just the right stickers...
This one by the hatchback handle...
And this one pointing out the gas cap...
The still bare bumper finally found its own perfect adornment this past year with this...

2004 Honda Element, sandstone mica. Love it! I have the on-demand AWD, great to go skiing in the winter and I carry my bike in it in the summer. With the back-seat captain's chairs, it's great for long trips with friends.

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus sedan. It's obviously not the best car on the planet, but I can't complain because at least it's something.

My Prius is just over a year old. I'm AVERAGING 48 miles/gallon. City driving knocks the average down. Aside from the gas milage, its a wonderful car to drive!
