What do you buy a boyfriend?

His birthday was hard enough!
I gave him a book and a CD.
Then my birthday rolled around a month later, and he bought tickets to a tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie!
GAH! I suck at gifts!
We've been dating for 8 months, and I don't know how large of a gift I should give him.
He, of course, keeps telling me not to give him anything, giving me the cheesy line that "the real present" is getting to spend time with me.
Boys are frustrating.
He likes professional wrestling, the White Sox, and X-Men...
I just don't know.
Any ideas?

"He likes professional wrestling, the White Sox, and X-Men..."
Yet he bought tickets for Millie just to please you ? He is definetely a keeper, don't lose him !!!
I like to buy clothes for my boyfriends, but that's just me !

Posted: 12/21/05 at 4:54pmHow about a White Sox jersey, hat, or something like that. If they have some kind of wrestling DVD or book you might wanna try that too. Of course, I don't know how much money you have to spend so maybe I am way off base...

"He likes professional wrestling, the White Sox, and X-Men... "
from that list, your boyfriend sounds like he might like ANOTHER boy....

Or perhaps a train ticket so he can come here and kick Robb's ass for calling him a queer...
#9re: What do you buy a boyfriend?
Posted: 12/21/05 at 5:02pmI like that idea! Plan a date, and take him out.

~FF~ if he likes professional wrestling I have just the thing.
Go to the website ROHWrestling.com
If he really likes wrestling, you can go there and order him DVD's of the best professional wrestling on the planet for like 10-20 bucks a pop. I recommend the show JOE VS. KOBASHI but PM me if you want other suggestions for great matches. Also look for DRAGON GATE INVASION. Trust me, if he loves pro wrestling he'll like these. And if he's never heard of Ring Of Honor(ROH) he will love you for turning him on to it.

1. katygrace84, I have a feeling I was born the same year as you. I am 21.
2. GreekMusicalFan, yes, he is amazing.
3. I don't feel comfortable buying him clothes. Hell, I don't feel comfortable buying myself clothes most of the time.
4. VinnieMeatball, thanks. I think that part of his gift is going to be a White Sox World Series hat.
5. RobbO, don't worry. I'm pretty positive as to which team he bats for.
6. VinnieMeatball, thanks for defending my man.
7. Eh, we're not really the "date" types. We mostly hang out, and when we go out it's usually spur of the moment. I don't think it's really our thing. But thanks.
8. CarlMagnum, thanks. I'll definitely look into that.
9. CJR, thanks. Great information.
10. DayDreamer, I totally understand the problem.
11. bmeonbway2, that's part of the problem... no clue how much to spend.
12. DramaDork925, tell me about it! Gosh, I adore this boyfriend of mine...

Posted: 12/21/05 at 10:10pmI can't help you ~ff~, because I'm in the EXACT same situation. Same length of time together, same cheesy line, EVERYTHING. Boys are terribly hard to buy for.

Agreed! GAH!
I have this feeling that I'm going to get him something stupid, and he's going to get me something amazing... and then I'll feel like a shmuck, and he'll say something cheesy-yet-perfect that sounds like it came straight out of the mouth of the love interest in a chick flick...
That's what he is.
My boyfriend is the love interest in a chick flick.
And I'm the comedic-screw-up/daimsel-in-distress.
Drat!

I just say buy him or make him something. I had a hard enough time getting mine something he would like for Christmas. Ended in made nice version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galexy and POTO dvd. Then my parents chipped in and bought him the complete works of Calvin and Hobbes. Needless to say he was flabbergasted. Just think of the things he likes and maybe just look around. Maybe something will just strike your fancy to give to him.

Posted: 12/22/05 at 12:39amFlower, tell him you are going to give him something very special that you are making youself. Somthing that is very personal and only lives for a night. Then make him a special dinner from scratch with your own lily white hands. Dress in something very sexy for the evening. Serve him champagne. Wait on him as if he is the king of your world. But do not put out under any circumstances. He will come back, and he will stay. Until you decide he does not fit your changing life.
