1)Cell phone use by idiots who have no idea how to behave in public.
2) Political Correctness
3) A general lack of respect for others around you no matter who they are and what the situation is.
I could go on and on - what are yours?

Parents not paying attention to their children and not raising them to be decent people
TV/Computers/Internet/video games

I think there used to be a time when people "contributed" to the world -- more and more I find that people are "takers" and don't contribute (or feel the need and/or the desire to contribute) to the betterment of our world.

I know its a very "Feed The Birds" philosophy but, hey, it takes so little sometimes. You give something positive, you take reponsiblity for your actions, you take care of your children, you promote respect,...the list goes on and on.

Apart from the obvious (Bush & the right wing undoing of FDR's advances in civilization) it all comes down to simple coutesy- Cell Phones, obnoxious children, entitlement, my noisy neighbors; all everyone needs to do is stop and think how this action will effect the folks around them- and act accordingly.

I guess it won't stop those non-union open calls, Rath, but at least people will be more polite while they are waiting around those crowded halls.

Ahh yes - ENTITLEMENT...thats the one that bugs me most these days - everyone (or so many, at least) act as if the world owe's them something - I watch friends spoil their children and just shake my head in disbelief - I can't imagine how these kids are going to grow up to be good when they are handed everything on a silver platter...you have to work for it to make it worthwhile. At least that's how I was raised.

well, I have a lot of friends who are/were spoiled as children and they, even as adults, sometimes amaze me at what they think the world owes them. I just have to laugh and walk away when they start acting that way. The world doesn't owe anyone anything.

I have no idea - but I think it all begins at home - with parents who spoil their children - lavish expensive gifts on them and never make them do anything to earn the gifts - it sets them up to spend the rest of their lives thinking thats how it will always be. It's just awful.

I know, redhot - and they are angry much of the time because they think they are not "getting what is due to them". This assumption produces a chip on their collectives shoulders which is toxic. Where did this attitude originally begin? I have friends like this - contemporaries in their 40s and 50s - so it's not original to today's youth.

Break-down of the Family. The individuals being tossed into society are not necessarily well-prepared emotionally, socially, etc to impact positively on others.

I know this will probably step on some toes, but I'm allergic to cigarette smoke (makes me sick, literally) and I really resent having to leave a place because it is filled with cigarette smoke.
