What is Cloverfield?

Apparantly this movie trailer that goes under the working names of Cloverfield and Slusho has been giving people sleepless nights after seeing it before Transformers. Some people think it's a Godzilla movie, and others think it's Voltron or Cthulhu. My opinion is that it is going to be a totally original monster. Apparantly the guy (some people are saying this, but I'm not sure) who created pokemon may have something to do with the project. If he can come up with more than 150 monsters, then I'm pretty sure he can do a good job coming up with a new one.

It's a jj abrams movie, and according to AICN it's a giant monster. An original monster ostensibly, but even Harry Knowles (who is a friend of Abrams, natch) doesn't know for sure.

The trailer rocks though. I've watched it a dozen times.
