How many times would you break up and get back together with someone before you realized it just isn't meant to be?

Okay gurrrlll....spill. I sense a story.
My generosity only extends to the "second chance". Anything beyond that is ****wittage.
It's probably someone else's story, cheeze.
1, once it's done..it's done.
Rath, are you implying I don't have good stories?
Not at all! I'm implying you only discuss other people's.

That's okay - I am just in the mood.
My ex popped up last week - we broke up five years ago - and our relationship was really on and off. I mean - If I was there, he was not and vice - versa. For a good four years. Last week - he finally said "I know I was wrong - I did not get it then, but have wanted to tell you so for a good year and a half now". You know - it almost got him home. ALMOST.

Depends on how long you're together.
3-6 months? Twice, tops. You're still getting to know each other.
6 months to a year or more? Once.
The multi-break up relationships are usually really, really unhealthy.

Moxie - you mean there is a proper chart we can follow?
"I did not get it then, but have wanted to tell you so for a good year and a half now"

A bit of a threadjack but wasn't there a song in "I Love you Because" about this topic?

A month ago I would have said 0. But now I'm waffling.
ETA: It depends a bit on the circumstances surrounding the relationship and breakup, I think. Sometimes there are other issues that can be resolved by individuals during time apart.

The Actuary Song, it was about rebound time.

That's only because we can't figure out who out power bottoms the other. I get it now - and I have been meaning to tell you for a day or two now.
Too little, too late.
