re: What's Your Favorite Dip?

My mom makes this awesome shrimp dip. The bottom layer is cream cheese mixed with sour cream. On top of that, spread a layer of seafood cocktail sauce. On top of that goes a can (drained) of those teeny-tiny shrimp. Then chopped green pepper, then shredded cheddar cheese.

I've seen it made with salsa instead of cocktail sauce, and ground beef (cooked with taco seasoning) instead of shrimp, too. But the seafood one is much better. re: What's Your Favorite Dip?

My all-time favorite is "Killer" Dip- cream cheese, picante sauce and a little bit of lemon juice. Runners-up include hummous and guac.

re: What's Your Favorite Dip?

I make a yummy low-fat spinach artichoke dip that is amazing:

1 cup FF or low-fat mayo (I personally cannot handle FF, so I use the low-fat)
1/2 cup low fat shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup parmesean
10 oz frozen chopped spinach
1 can artichoke hearts, mashed
2-3 cloves garlic.

Simply mix it all together, put in a 9x9 baking dish, and cook at 350 til browned and bubbly...about 30 minutes.

Makes 9 servings at 2 Weight Watchers points each.

Utz Sour Cream and Onion.

I never liked the French Onion, but my mom insists on buying it for me anyways.

A restaurant in the town where my parents live (I'm actually headed there in about an hour) has the best spinach and artichoke dip I've ever tasted. I always make sure to stop in and have some whenever I'm there.

I second the Friday's spinach/artichoke.
I like hummus for my pita chips.

re: What's Your Favorite Dip?

I have to go with Elphaba and the old classic Lipton's Onion soup mix and sour cream. It's good with any thing-chips or crudite. I've been known to eat it plain though, with a spoon.

re: What's Your Favorite Dip?

Cheezedoodle, clam dip is my favorite. Again you're making me hungry. Can I come over? At an office party years ago, somebody brought in a hot tuna dip, which was also awesome.

I don't know if they qualify for dips. but probably my favorite dip/spread/sauce whatever is humus and also tahini - which is kind of the same thing. I think one might be part of the other.

The Mountainbrook in in Newton, New Jersey, way way up in the hinterlands, makes a mysterious mouthwatering dip that has a slight mustard maybe cheese taste, very very subtle. That might be my favorite.

But of course, nothing beats your basic cheddar cheese sauce on Welsh Rarebit.

You know, everything I think of is my favorite. Maybe I'm just hungry.

re: What's Your Favorite Dip?

Two of my favorites:

Veggie Spinach Dip
8oz Cream Cheese
8oz Sour Cream
2 TBSP Mayonaise
1 Can Water Chestnuts, chopped
10 frozen chopped spinach, thawed, well drained
1 package Lipton Vegetable Soup Mix

Mix everything. Add more mayo if you prefer a thinner dip. (I like it thick and spreadable) I serve it in a sweet Hawaiian bread bowl. Any bread bowl will do.

This is a pretty common party dip recipe, but I replace the leek soup with Veggie soup and use cream cheese. Everyone loves it.

Vidalia Onion Dip

One large Sweet White Onion, well diced
8oz Cream Cheese
1/2 cup Mayo
10oz Shredded Parmesan Cheese
Cajun Seasoning

Mix onion, Cream cheese, mayo and Parm. I play with the quantity of ingredients until I have what I want. It should be close to a thick oatmeal consistancy. Pour it into a baking dish and sprinkle lightly with cajun seasoning. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes to an hour. Serve with tortilla chips.

I have never served the latter without being asked for the recipe.

I usually double both recipes for parties.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

My favorite dip is the one Greg Jbara gives Joanna Gleason at the end of their "Like Zis/Like Zat" dance. (really yummy - and non fattening!)

re: What's Your Favorite Dip?

Zepka speaks the truth. Bison Brand dip is THE BEST.

The French Onion dip is white with green onion flecks in it. Just delightful. No brownish cast like Helluva Good or what you get when you use Lipton's Mix. It is joy.
