Off-Broadway seems to be on an upward turn and there are tons of venues with different shows almost every month. I'm curious as to which venues people like and why? Not a show but the theater itself.

I love The Public's Anspacher so much. It's my second favorite theater in New York, and definitely my favorite non-Broadway house.

The Atlantic's beautiful church and, even though it ain't for long, I like the Signature's 42nd Street digs.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I liked the Atlantic's church. Saw Spring Awakening there and it was pretty cool.

Another fan of The Atlantic's church space here. It feels like an Off-Broadway theatre should. La Mama ETC is another favorite.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I don't want to name a favorite house but I just wanted to state that I really prefer anything downtown, in the Village, West Village or Soho. Great neighborhoods to visit, dine in, and just hang out, and maybe see a show.

for looks and comfort the Little Shubert. But, for the most part they have a crappy house staff.

I have always been fond of The Gramercy Theater.
