Oh, please...deviled eggs are SO not that much trouble. And even if they were, they're SOOO worth it.

ETA: And I forgot to add I'll be eating nothing out of the ordinary. I try to eat mainly organic, and stay away from red meat. Soon, I'll be be a non-meat eater.

Although, my mouth waters thinking of burgers and high fructose corn syrup ketchup. But the past is the past.

Don't think I've ever had a special meal on Memorial Day. last year on memorial day I recall I had some hot dogs. A month later, I became a vegetarian. Good riddance, hot dogs are gross.

This year... the night before we'll eat strawberries and guacamole and puppy chow (aka muddy buddies, best food ever) and play Summer Camp (a card game) and watch Short Circuit.

The day of I'll go to my friend's house to study for our chemistry final and, knowing her mom, we'll have cold cut veggies and bread dipped in olive oil and vinegar.

i'm allergic to everything in the corn recipe except the salt, sugar and pepper haha

i have no idea what we're eating. but every time there's some kind of gathering we eat pasta, so i'm guessing we're eating that.

I love that not a single person on this thread is actually doing something connected with Memorial Day.

Initially it was a holiday to honor dead military... but has since grown to include all of our dearly departed (at least according to some)...

...So... nobody's actually going to a cemetery with some posies? It might make the day a little more special and meaningful if you did.

I was waiting for a comment like that, B12. The barbeque I'm going to is actually on Sunday, not Monday. As a matter of fact, I do go to the local cemeteries on the actual day. The thread title was Memorial Day menu and related to food according to the first post.

Since you're wondering, I also try to get to a couple of local towns parades, depending on their timing. My Dad was very heavily involved with our American Legion and was in the Honor Guard of our VFW. I spent many Memorial Day mornings, getting up before dawn and going to all the local cemeteries for their various ceremonies prior to marching in our town's parade. I may not get up in time these days to go the actual cemeteries with the group, but I do visit them during the day.
