Betty Hutton did seem a bit masc.

Harvey Fierstein as Annie?
No as Miss Hannigan
I'm being serious. I'm directing Annie jr. and there is this little boy that has this amazingly high voice and sounds just like lea salonga. He'd be the most perfect annie, and I wanted to know if youde all be freaked out if i casted him as the title role.
in that case, yes, I would object to that. But maybe i'm just weird. Are there no girls who can do the part just as well?
i think it might be a nice twist...call it Andy! hahaha, i crack myself up!
You don't want to subject that little boy to all the teasing that will come with him wearing a red wig and a little red dress, do you?

give him red hair(flat) and a red shirt. make daddy oliver warbucks mommy olivia warbucks with greg farrel! hahaha! sorry..
Oh, there are girls that can sing the part, but this boy can SINNGGGGGGGG the part. I already had him stay after and sing "Tomorrow", he's as good as Andrea McArdle, except he sings the part, he doesn't yell it like she did. The other little girls can't belt it out, they have to switch into their head voice to hit the money notes and it doesnt have the same effect. I really want to cast him. I'll have to ask the parents of course but, I want an honest opinion on this idea.
Are you going to beat the kid up, also? Y'know, just to get him used to what he'll be getting daily at recess?

Don't forget to pull his pants down and chop off his willy.
At least introduce him to Liza, Barbra and sequins so you can ease the transition a little.
I, personally, believe people are born gay.
But this kid could be the exception.
awww, poor kid. i think u should ask everyone. all the stage mommies will be ticked though.
Picture hearing Lea Salonga belt out "tomorrow", you try and not casting them in a lead role in a fricken small town. it's had finding talent like his. I'm really torn becuase there are no parts left for boys as young as him. So it's either the lead role, or nothing at all and he'll prolly give up on singing completly if doesnt get cast. He's that type of person. He's really quiet and reserved but when he sings he becomes a whole other person. He's going places.

I say wait 'till he's older and he can play Mama Rose. For now, cast his brother as Annie.
give him a lot of solos or something! or put on a 2nd production....
If I were a young boy, that would just be awkward and embarassing. You COULD make the Star-to-Be a young male...

You've gotta be kidding!
Can you imagine what you'd be submitting this tyke to?
Think this through. It would never work. Pick a show that's suitable for this kid's talents next year, but for God's sake, DON'T cast him as Annie.
male annie? NO
but as for harvey...his announcemtn at the open of la cage frightened me, and literally made me jump...SO not ready for that one! WHY, oh why didn't someone warn me??

If a kid that talented is probably going to give up singing because you don't cast him as Annie, then he has no future in the business anyway. You must never cast inappropriately just because a performer is talented. You're not doing anyone any favours.
Broadway freak- How amazing that you were open minded enough to even consider this... I truly admire that in a teacher.
Have you considered talking to the boy himself about the idea? And then the parents?
I agree.... pick a show for this boy next year! Maybe Annie isn't the way to go... I mean, but maybe it is? Either way, support him and cast him in a suitable role next year.
