Not sure if this was ever confirmed but supposedly her email is 'stoprightthere@[whatever email server she has]' of which made me love her forever.

I think it's too bad that she didn't end up playing the Witch in Into the Woods on Broadway -- from videos of her in the original San Diego and later touring productions I love the edge her voice brings to the role.

EricMontreal22, Foley actually did play the Witch on Broadway. I saw her. She was the final Witch and closed the show. On the final performance Sondheim gave her a copy of the score with the inscription:To Ellen: the alpha and the omega.
She was fine as the witch, a bit goofy, but fine.

'Body and Soul' is one of my core albums. It's also one of the albums which is responsible for the fact that I still own a turntable: the vinyl recording is--to me--physically transporting in a way the CD is not.

Foley was great in San Diego (though HER rap really sounded like rap and confused me greatly at the top of the show). I would have loved to have seen her after the show gelled.
When I went to download the new album, I was happy to see her credited with Meat Loaf on BAT OUT OF HELL. For years, I turned my record jacket over and over searching in vain for her name.

That sounds harsh, especially given Joe had a habit of stealing the girlfriends of his other bandmates, but then again, she is the subject of one of The Clash's most mainstream hits, basically a pretty mean spirited dare for a break-up, and a lot of people associate her for that. I can get why she'd still be sour over him.

Posted: 11/17/13 at 8:54pmYou know, Ellen Foley's problem was she was neither fish nor fowl. Was she as mainstream as mainstream could possibly be (Meatloaf?!, endorser of Romney) or edgy new waver cuz she dated the poppiest Clash member? She wouldn't have been able to hold up her end of a conversation with Joe Strummer! She was just so obviously trying to hitch her wagon to a star, but she wasn't good at what she did musically. As far as that game plan went, she was no Courtney Love, t,hats for sure.
