Hey people. I need some help selecting music for a pageant that I am helping with.
I need a song for the "intro","casual wear", and "evening gown"
For casual wear the idea of "Just Dance" was thrown around. And usually with the evening gown its just slow music no words but I don't really know of any compositions. Any help is APPRECIATED!

Posted: 2/13/09 at 9:52amI feel like the OP wasn't trying to offend, but unfortunately, BWW bylaw 69STFU states that intent is irrelevant.

I suggest the theme from "The Pink Panther".

I think one is allowed to use Kathy Griffinspeak (in moderation) without giving offense.
But I'm not sure I understand the question.

It wasn't Kathy Griffin's intent, but I wouldn't let her call me that either.
It's derogatory, not funny.
It's just like saying, "Where are my Asians?" or "Where are my blacks?" or "Where are my Jews?"

I always say, if you're offended, then I guess it's offensive.
But to my mind, it's more along the lines of me not being able to start my car, and saying "Where's a straight guy when I need one?"
Based on a stereotype? Yes. Offensive? Well, if I offended a straight person just now, then yes, I guess it can be.

I understand that, Besty. And I'm not just being contrarian. We all have things that bug us, and things we shrug off. Context means a lot, as does (perceived) intent.
I have a friend who still says "gay" to mean dumb. And she'll add "sorry, Reg" at the end, which makes it a thousand times worse. But I have a gay friend who uses it the same way, and he gets annoyed that I get annoyed.

I think it's a fine fine line. And no one is going to happy. I think in a forum like this, one SHOULD ere on the side of caution.
For what it's worth, I always thought the OP WAS gay.

Posted: 2/13/09 at 10:22amI'm Jewish and I don't get offended by "Where are my Jews"? Now "Where are my Hebs"... that's a different story.

Technically, he's HELPING with a pageant.
Which is a big difference.

Posted: 2/13/09 at 10:34amDo straight guys help with pageants cause they think it's gonna get them laid? Cause it's only the judges that get some. I'd think even straight guys would know that.
#19re: Where My Gays? I need some pageant help!
Posted: 2/13/09 at 11:19amOf course this just reinforces the stereotype that people involved with pageants are vapid, brainless automatons who cannot think for themselves.

they're all in happy, texas. the greatest pageant movie of all time.
that said, you marys need to get over yourselves and quit queening it up in this thread. like that hebe chick said a few posts back, there's nothing wrong with a little stereotyping especialy if you're talking about those thieving puerto ricans. personally, i was a little offended by that straight comment by my own personal gay, reg. but i am trying to get over it with a nice happy ending from little suzy dong slobber. in the end, what matters is not what you say about someone, negro. it's how you feel about them that counts. and no one here can look into anyone else's hearts and see if they are typing towelhead with an ironic smirk or with a devious scowl. that's why i assume that you're all wetback, drunken, communist pollacks.
