Diva for all of your nasty vileness direcred at me including threatening to shoot me if you ever saw me I did think you were smart. Obviously the snl comment was me making fun of those who were complaining about lack of color on the show. Context dearie. Look it up.

Hey strummer, if you've seen BROOKLYN NINE-NINE (and you should; it's easily my favorite of this year's new shows) you'd know that while Braugher's character is gay, and Crews' character is married, they are not together. Crews has a wife and two twin daughters (Cagney & Lacey, because awesome) on the show.

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

There's a very funny Asian actress on Rebel Wilson's new sitcom. "The Blacklist" also features a multi-ethnic cast. Harry Lennix is one of the stars, and Parminder Nagra was on this week as a CIA agent who looks like she might be recurring.

I find it harder to think of shows on network TV right now that don't have a non-white as a contract actor.

Supernatural only has two regular contract characters, but that's the only show off the top of my head I can think of.

This is just my opinion, but I think shows that revolve around a family are less likely to see diversity in regulars, if say the actors playing the family are the core cast and nobody else. It does make sense, though I guess it could be interesting to get a family of mixed ethnicity. I guess Modern Family sort of did that a little with Jay and Gloria's son who was born last season. And if I'm wrong in this thinking, let me know. But, thinking about The Goldbergs had me thinking of The Middle and then all the family sitcoms I used to watch such as Full House, Family Matters, etc...

Marianne, Family sitcoms are more likely to have only one ethnicity in the core family, but there's always room for series regulars outside of the family that can add diversity: co-workers, neighbors, best friends, etc.

Look at The Michael J Fox Show. The core family is all white, but Wendell Pierce is a series regular as Michael's boss at NBC News.

Don't forget Sofia Vergara on Modern Family too!

Oh yeah, I am aware of that. I guess a few I was thinking of don't have a lot of side characters outside of the family who are regulars.

Sofia Vergara is Hispanic and Lily is Asian, Manny is Hispanic.

Brian Austin Green of Anger Management (as well as Charlie Sheen) also has some cherokee blood in him.

I don't know if anybody has mentioned this yet, but Sofia Vergara from ABC's Modern Family is Columbian and Jesse Tyler Ferguson is a Gay-American. Also, the young man who plays her son Manuel, is a Texan of Mexican descent. The actress who plays the daughter of the Gay-American, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, is a Californian whose mother in real life is a Korean-American adoptee. A little-known fact is that Lily was originally played by TWO OTHER young actors, Ella and Jaden Hiller, who hated playing Lily and left the show after season two.

Like I said, I am just unsure if anybody at all at any point in this thread has discussed the diversity of the characters and actors on the television program Modern Family at all here.

AND it manages to be the funniest show on television, year after year. Which must be a pain in the ass for those who think striving for diversity is just for PC something somethings.
