I think something to consider when speaking of diversity on television and lack thereof, is the lack of diversity in leading roles. Yes, it's great there are black bosses and Asian friends and whatnot, but there is an undeniable paucity of shows centered around non-white actors.

Hi,

I have been away to respond on this post, but I should have been a little bit more specific. Yes, I am looking at leading roles as to what PHYLLIS said. I am also referring to media as well. About 90% of ads and media relations have really only exposed white folks. To be honest, most of everything I saw on TV (including the new shows) have been that specific...maybe mostly what the networks are pushing to succeed...example: The GOLDBERGS, TROPHY WIFE, MICHAEL J. FOX SHOW, DADS, SEAN SAVES THE WORLD, LUCKY 7, BACK IN THE GAME, etc...I guess I would love a season again where we once had shows like ALL AMERICAN GIRL (Margaret Cho), FAMILY MATTERS, STEP-BY-STEP and even ALF all in one season...just looking for more variety from the MAJOR networks I guess!

The Neighbors has a family that are 2 whites, one Asian and one African American. Granted they are aliens.

Jovie, some questions...

1) is someone who is half diverse like Chloe Bennet of SHIELD count or part diverse like Brian Austin Green count for a full diverse point, or partial.

2)you mention the great Margaret Choa. as a gay asian, would she count once or twice?

3) What about someone who is truly an African American, like Charlize Theron? where does she go on the scorecard?

Suestorm...I give you points for what you said above, all true. Also, you are correct about Charlie Sheen...him and his entire family are Hispanic, they just changed their name from Estevez to Sheen (except his brother Emilio who kept the family last name). I guess I am tires of seeing the TITLE character of being white. It's just what I have been exposed to over the last few months and it just made me mad to not see more advertizing with more ethnic diversity.

For the record, there are two other siblings that everyone forgets about: Renee and Ramon. Both tried out the acting thing and did not change their last names to Sheen. FYI.

i just dont like when people count or use quotas. i wish people would stop using hyphens too. if you remember that Shondra/Dunham fight last year, i kind of agreed with Lena. She said she didnt think adding a black to the show to just have a black was helpful and was racist on its own. so then after pressure she added Danny Glover and it was kind of embarrassing thru no fault of his.

that being said, i can understand how you might feel that if you're a minority (dont know if you are or arent) It does seem to me that every show now is mixed though. maybe the problem is more off the screen than on.
