"Who Killed Amanda Palmer" Out Now!

One of my two very favorite Dresden Dolls released her first solo cd this week, "Who Killed Amanda Palmer". It's produced gorgeously by Ben Folds. Features guest appearances by Zoe Keating, ex-Dead Kennedy East Bay Ray is on the song "Guitar Hero." Even Neil Gaiman is involved.

Although I usually encourage folks to enjoy a little theatricality in rock music by taking a break from the cast recordings and checking out the likes of the Dresden Dolls, this time I won't be all anti-cast recording snob. Because some of you might particularly enjoy Amanda's rendition of "What's the Use of Wond'rin" (featuring Annie Clark of St. Vincent).

I'm really interested to hear this. I'm a HUGE Ben Folds fan, and I loved his production work on Shatner's CD.

Folds appears on the album, very effectively on the song "Oasis."

Well, I'll at least have to buy that song then. Who knows, I may end up buying the full album if I like the song enough. I've never heard anything from Amanda or the Dresden Dolls.

There's 12 on the album.

Okay, so I purchased two tickets to see Ben Folds in NYC in October the other day, and they sent me two free song downloads for iTunes.

I bought Oasis just now with one of the freebies, and I gotta say, it's pretty damn good. I will totally be jamming to it on my iPod.

I agree. I heart them very much. I've seen them many a time.

The solo album is really good. There will soon be a "Who Killed Amanda Palmer" coffee table book that's a collaboration with Neil Gaiman.

With a great stream of "Leeds United," which (yes I'm about to say it) ROCKS.

I haven't gotten the album yet, but I saw the video for "Oasis" the other day. Freaking brilliant.
