Who has the scoop on GMA's Josh Elliott?

I know he's straight, but he's very attractive and is probably the best thing that's happened to the show. He's also been very vocal about having a gay father. Obviously he'll be taking over George's place in the near future.

A bit of internet snooping brought up several reports that he's difficult to work with and has a quite a bit of animosity regarding George.

Does anyone know what Josh is like off camera?

I know his history in journalism which started as a TV producer in Hollywood to print sports journalism with Sports Illustrated and then transitioned into becoming an ESPN anchor including getting the coveted 'live' 9 am hour. Not the most orthodox career trajectory but I do remember his written work (Sports Illustrated has a 'vault' online where you can probably read his stories) and very early on-air appearances decrying homophobia in the locker-room culture of football. In a profession of sports journalism that consists of 'the old white boys club' that was a breath of fresh air- so I was surprised reading from some people he gave off a fratbro vibe, then again I don't watch GMA on the regular. Plus, him and Bob Ley were the only people on the ESPN network that ever gave international football its deserved attention so I will always like him and Mr. Ley for that.

A possibly good source about Josh's ESPN days is the ESPN oral history book where you get a sense of indirect animosity thrown around by nearly everybody but note, you have to go toward the end of the book. If nothing else, you realize that everybody except Dan Patrick loathed working with Keith Olbermann.

Oh, I like Josh on air. He's admitted that he knits in his spare time and is devoted to his daughter. That's why I'm surprised at these allegations that he's an off camera b1tch.

Well the on-air rapport with Hannah Storm or any of his co-anchors was not always the sunniest. Not in a Greg Kelly, explodes and seems socially inept sort of way but he seemed to really have high expectations of his co-workers. Like while he would actually be flexible and adjust in interviews and clearly ask tougher questions than what was originally from his script, you had the other group of ESPN anchors who just seemed to be starf#ckers and really just asked generic sound-bite questions. You could notice Josh grimacing at some of the stuff he had to do as the 9 am anchor.

It was as if he wanted to actually put a capital 'J' in sports journalist (I mean, even Olbermann at ESPN was a jokester) but for other ESPN anchors it is about getting a radio show or going the Craig Kilborn route. Not that morning news is that much better but Josh went the Robin Roberts route and it probably beats doing daily top ten lists and updating on-air polls about Tim Tebow.

Oh, I don't know. Interviewing yet another Kardashian doesn't really seem to be an exciting way to earn a living. I do remember him making Kris Humphries squirm a bit when he interviewed him on GMA. Humphries thought he was only doing a cooking segment and Josh made him talk about his failed marriage. It was awkward and Humphries bad-mouthed him about it in the press.

I want Josh Elliott to spoon me every night.

I actually, slowly went from being a Today show person to a GMA person about two years ago. Once Robin Roberts took over completely, I was hooked. She's magnificent, as is Lara Spencer. Poor George Stephanopoulos as the befuddled one and Sam Champion being...well..lady-like as ever. They actually are a really fun group and Elliott seems to fit in well there. I decided to watch a little bit of the Today show during the Olympics and I nearly shot myself, I was so bored by their self-importance.

Plus, I love how gay GMA has become.

GMA certainly has become the morning show to go to for eye candy. George, Josh and Sam should do a bathing suit segment.

I think one of the reasons that GMA is doing so well in the ratings, is their likeability factor. They all come across like they are down to earth and relatable to the average Joe. If the rumours of Josh Elliot, being difficult and his animosity with George are true, that would be disappointing. He comes across among the men, as the nicest. But it wouldn't be the first time someone came across as nice in front of the camera and an ass outside.

If you read Charles Perez' book, he reports that Sam Champion can be a foul-mouthed b1tch when things don't go his way. I met him on the Fire Island ferry a few years ago and he seemed quite nice--if a bit silly.
