I know Schmerg, it was a joke. Your last name is obviously Impaler.
And this is for stagey
Oh and Stagey, I had twin uncles named Marvin and Melvin.
For anybody named Chris, is it annoying when you get robo-calls and mail that only read/say Christophe? My cousin was complaining about it a while back.
Blue, I was also upset that my parents didn't give me a middle name. In grade school I just told all the teachers it was "Ann". Boy, could I have picked a duller middle name??
Ah, sorry, Taz. I actually know a family with the last name Schmerg, so I wasn't sure.
Thanks, taz. Cannot wait!
Reginald: That's just cruel. I have a brother one year older named Selvin, and that added to the confusion with my name. I guess it's easier to say Selvin and Melvin.
I don't have a middle name either. All three of my sisters do. I know my name is already two connected together, but I wanted to be the same as them. And oddly, I was so jealous for a long time that my youngest sister's middle name was Noelle. Don't ask me why. But, she got that as hers because she was born four days before Christmas, and was brought home on Christmas Eve.

Yeah, "resent" isn't really what I mean, I just get annoyed every time I think about it
My cousin had two middle-names and he dropped one. It was Theodore.
I share the same middle-name as my mother and her mother. I guess that is a bit of an honor/family tradition but it is just so plain.

I like my first name (it's Danny if you can't tell from my screen name). It's pretty common, but I have actually only met people who go by Daniel or Dan--nobody else with the exact same name. Plus, nobody can mispronounce it.
My last name, on the other hand, is something I hate--Kapinos (pronounced kuh-pee-nohss). Everybody thinks it's pronounced with the a and the i using short vowel sounds, and nobody thinks to ask how it's pronounced. Not to mention what offensive names come from changing the last syllable.
I really hated being a Jessica growing up because there was this other Jessica that I did not get along with at all, so I hated that we shared a name. Now I kind of like it, though. I'm friends with 2 other Jessicas who totally rock. It's kind of like a club
lol the name was pretty popular when I was born so now there are lots of Jessicas around my age out there.
Im very lucky, my parents let me pick my own name and gender.
AwesomeDanny - my first name is Danny. So, YAY
My name is fairly common though when I was little the spelling was not. I'm a Kristin and 20 years ago it was all "Kristen". I could never get pencils or anything with my name on it because it was always spelled with the "e". And, to this day, I have family members who still spell my name with an "e".
Oddly enough, I wasn't supposed to be named Kristin. My late father's favorite movie was The Quiet Man and I was going to be named Mary Kate after Maureen O'Hara's character in that film. Also, my mother's mother was named Mary Catherine. But my father's brother's wife was pregnant at the same time and gave birth two months before my mom. And guess what they named their daughter.

I like my name (Erin), because it's nice and simple, and goes well with our fairly common last name. I just wish it worked better for nicknames (and Er doesn't count). My older sister (Deirdre) loves her name now, but didn't always like it when we were growing up. People always misspell/mispronounce it, and there's very few souvenir things with it.

I really like my name (Brendan) because it's not wildly uncommon but unique enough that I've met few in my life.
The downside is that I always get called Brandon. This was particularly evident in high school gym teachers, none of whom for some reason could ever grasp the idea that my name had an "e" and an "a".
I have a cousin named Brendan
I've never had issues with my name...of course it is a bit awkward to have the middle name "Gay" (but with an e) -- for a straight girl.
My sister hated her middle name so much we were FORBIDDEN to use it. So we did to piss her off.
I have an old college buddy whose first and middle names are just initials...they don't stand for anything: the are just letters. Back in the day he had all sorts of problems registering for things like SATs and even frequent flyer programs: they all wanted his name. He had a lot of arguments. I'm guessing that the same problem doesn't exist any longer.
Of all of this things I have issues with involving my parents, my name is luckily not one of them.
My only problem is that it sounds very waspish for a somewhat nice Jewish girl.

I like my name well enough. I'm not real uptight over nicknames, but I get irritated at being called Chrissy (it just sounds dumb to me) or Christine (because that's not short for Christina, it's just a different name.)
My last name is extremely uncommon. The only people (person?) I've found with my exact name are all in Germany.

I'm a Chris (of sorts) and I haven't had that problem (as I'm a Christina) but I do enjoy how Greyhound always prints my tickets to LASTNAME, CHRIST.

I also have a friend whose first name is an initial! She thought she was the only one, but intends to give her children initials as names.
I hate my first name, I don't think it fits my personality in any way, and it's also my dad's name. Now, my dad is my favorite person in the world, but I hated growing up and having the word "little" precede my first name in order to differentiate us, and getting mail when I lived at home was always a pain.
When I moved to the United States, I tried experimenting with different versions of the name since people here pronounce it differently, hence the "Ray" which I also never truly liked. Finally when I started grad school I settled on my middle name, since I've always loved my middle name, I think it fits my personality really well and now I feel weird when people call me by a different name.
What's annoying is that my mom wanted to give me my middle name as my first name, but my dad wanted one of his sons to have his name and they knew they weren't going to have any more kids after me, so I got stuck with the bad first name. Oh well. I still cringe a little when people call me by all the other names.
My grandmother named my dad after Gary Cooper, her favorite actor! I was named Gary, Jr. My parents were going to name me Chance, but couldn't think of a middle name to go with our surname, so I became Gary, Jr. I never minded it, but like spider, it was difficult when I went to apply for a home loan and my dad's credit was all mixed in with mine! Letters and letters later, it was resolved! I like Chance and wonder how it would have made my life different? I only know two other Chances. But with Chance I wouldn't have the nickname geaj....I'm good with Gary!
