I termed this thread an "Old Favorite," Marquise.

To me, it is the epitome as to how "situations" are handled at BWW.

Re-read the thread--look at those that cracked jokes; the ones who "sat on the fence" until the situation was ultimately resolved amd then IMMEDIATELY changed their minds, and those who made quiet, intelligent posts.

lemme TELL YOU something. i didn't "immediately change my mind". you know very very well what made me "change my mind" about you. a thread is started and people start discussing their like and dislike of a certain show/performer. YOU automatically jump in and if YOU don't like something YOU RUN to your "sacred" Leonard Maltin book and start posting negative reviews to prove "your point". then when someone comes back at you you play the victim and your passive/aggressive self PM's the person in question (namely me in some cases) and starts to ramble on your reasonings for doing so and then you proceed to try to "patch things up" before proceeding to do it again...and again...and again.

sounds to me like you can dish it out but you cant TAKE IT.

THAT is why my opinion changed.

so please, stop right there. quit while you're "ahead"

Sorry. My PC Crashed.

Papa--I'm not sure I believe that just because I spelled a word is grounds for your post.

Marquise--

#1 -- On the one hand, you say you don't care who I am. On the other hand, you go to great lengths to destroy my threads. I'm confused.

#2 -- I believe in discussions where there are healthy exchanges of ideas with mutual respect between both parties. When these discussions degenerate into emotional frenzies with each party stating the same opinion OVER AND OVER again with no concensus being reached, I find these interactions highly UNPRODUCTIVE and will wathdraw.

but the fact of the matter is that YOU are the one that states the same opinion OVER and OVER again, like a BROKEN RECORD with no consensus being reached and it's OTHERS who wind up WITHDRAWING.

and who in their right mind "bumps" a thread about themselves?

I'm sorry--forgot one other point.

If I ask someone to elaborate or explain further what they have just posted, it is because 1) I very often cannot follow some of the "in-jokes" and terms used here; and 2) I want to be quite certain that I understand precisely what has been posted before responding.

I'm not even sure that action requires justification, but I have done so anyway.

I'm not afraid to discuss anything--so long as its done in a proper matter with mutual respect (which includes IMO, no foul language and no verbal abuse aimed at either individual.)

Given the events of this morning, I think I had good reason to have this thread re-visited.

As the comments of the others posting are degenerating into verbal abuse aimed at the individual, NOT at the opinions the individual expresses; I'm going to do exactly what I said I would a couple of posts ago and graciously withdraw.

Papa and Marquise--if my withdrawing leads you to believe "that you have won some sort of argument and have driven me away", then you are welcome to that belief.

I understand that there are more important things in life than "winning an argument" on an Internet Message Board and know that in the grand scheme of things, this 'discussion' is really not at all that important.

I agree with one point--i've decreasingly been chatting about theater, which originally brought me here... ATC is not as lively of fun, but they keep their focus. In an ideal world, we could blend the two boards.

Marquise,

I believe you're playing "Tit for Tat" and trying to cause me to have an emotional reaction so I'll keep on with this discussion.

I reiterate, due to the personal attacks of you and Papa (like the threatening post you just made), I have chosen to end this discussion.

Let's just recognize that we're at an impasse and call it a day, OK?

I'm sincerely sorry that this discussion could not have been a more productive one.

nah, midtown, we had that and it's why we broke them into two boards.

as usual you can start something but then can't finish it. stop playing the martyr. why don't you go cry to the "friends" you have on this board that you claim "hate me".

i'll do myself the favor and block you because i seriously do NOT have the time for this.

nope, midtown, there used to be just one bww.com board, but after a huge brawl about off topic threads, rob and craig, sexy and smart devils that they are, created an off topic board where those threads could go so that the people who wanted to talk about more than theatre would have a chance to do so without bothering those who were here strictly for the braodway part of things. it was and is, to me, a brilliant solution.

Marquise, can I jump in and answer your questions?

1.) Yes

2.) No

3.) Nobody in their right mind.

4.) Yes, but no different from any other day.

My type of quiz. Where you don't open an old text book to look for an answer or a question.

you guys are catty and wrong about his/her idenity. Mary-Ethel is quite the gabber and loves to encite a discussion. So what's wrong with that? Are your posts any more qualified to be here? hmmmmm.? I've seen some pretty silly and pathetic stuff here by a few people with major bugs up their butts.

M/E's topics are a combo of fluff and fun facts, but he/she obviously is an entertainment buff for many years. He/She posts with respect and is non-combative. It sure beats some of the bitchin', whinin' and boring old gossipy hens that haunt this place from time to time.

If M/E is not your cup 'o tea....move on. Frankly, M/E makes me smile :) SEE!

This board never fails to amaze me. Why must we flame someone who starts perfectly fine, thought-provoking threads? And then fight tooth and nail about it?

Like I've said when people have complained about the numerous Wicked and Brooklyn threads: just dont read them. It says the orignal thread starter's name in the board, just dont click it when its by someone who talks about things you dont like. Its really not that hard.

Sorry to join the thread late, but I must comment on the original complaint. I, for one, enjoy Mary_Ethel's posts. They always attempt to remind BWW users of the past, something that cannot be forgotten. The posts are, to use a cliche, a breath of fresh air. Plus, just how many of the people here actually go back and attempt to reply to every post in their thread? And, on some occasions, PM a user just to say hello? I can't think of many, in fact, only one more (I shan't name her, tho, I dont want to get her involved).

Just grow up, people
