Blue, I was wondering if anyone else was thinking of that! I dared not type it, though.

Awww, that's precious! I was wondering where the baby's head was, because I didn't notice it in the first pic either. I thought it might be tucked under her arm. Perhaps I need new glasses.

They are Asian short-clawed otters. The baby is obviously defective, because the mother is holding it up as if to say "take it away! No really, free to a good home!".
I love how otters use their hands. Somewhere on my PC I have a short and rubbish video I shot of an otter playing with a pebble by throwing it in the air, failing to catch it, and throwing it all over again. It's adorable. Asian short-claws are my favourite for cuteness, although the giant otter is my favourite because it grows up to six feet in length and has the mad staring eyes of a killer.
ANYWAY...

On the otter hand, the river otters of the PNW like to torment my wolf-dog. They entice him out into the strait, swim under and around him. He thinks he's chasing them, but they go further and further out until he's almost a "speck on the horizon". I have to throw stones into the water to chase the otters away and lead my dog back to shore by distracting him. It's a big teasing match for the otters.

No, no, that's normal. At least, MY mother says that about me all the time...

You don't do that from a helicopter, do you?
Honestly, you throw ROCKS at an animal in their natural environment to protect your pet, whom you are somewhat abnormally attached to and who is completely out of his element?
I abhor hypocrisy.

Are you serious Q? !
I don't throw rocks at the animals you ninnie. I throw them to distract the animals. What happens is I'll throw the rocks between my dog and me to get his attention. The otters see the rocks coming and they're gone. They are out of reach anyway.
Don't judge a situation until you've seen it.
...to protect your pet, whom you are somewhat abnormally attached to...
Yes, Doctor Q. (does that stand for "Quack"?)

No. Wolves are not pets. What I have is a hybrid. Half dog and half wolf. I call him a wolf and I call him a dog. He is as much one as he is another. I was lucky to have one who is not aggressive to humans the way some wolf-dogs are. I generally do not recommend a wolf dog for a pet, not unless you know the breed. They do make good sled dogs, however, but that is something else and I'm not a dog sledder (musher).
