Posted: 4/17/07 at 6:56pmI haven't had soda in three years! I was addicted to Coca Cola Classic. Every once in a while (in a restaurant) I'll miss it, but I'm glad I gave it up. Diet soda wasn't an option because I think it's nasty. It was hard at first but I'm used to it now.

Actually I was soda-free for three months. It helped me lose 20 pounds. I drink maybe one a week now if that. Moutain Dew? Disgusting.

I don't like being Soda-Free (Diet Coke). Not one bit. I don't even like to have jus tone left. I get twitchy if I open the last one and don't know where my next one is coming from.
AND I have to get them myself. My office mates will constantly say "Joe, I'm heading out! can I bring you a Diet Coke?" And I would always reply "YES I'd LOVE a DIET COKE" and then they bring me a Culver's cup that might as well be full of warm dog vomit as far as I'm concerned. But I have to be polite and say "OH! A DIET PEPSI! Thank you!"
And then I got into the whole "Oh! Maybe, where are you going?" and have to run down the list in my head: Culver's, Tommy's, Taco Bell, NO! McD, BK, Subway (Finally!) YES. But that lead to "I remembered I had a Taco Bell Coupon so I went there!" and I'd be tempted to pour the foul potion in their gas tank to teach them the value of SPECIFICITY.
So I don't bother any more. Diet Coke rules. I don't trust people who can't understand that DC is proof that God Loves Us and wants us to be happy.

Mmm, boy, there's nothin' like some high-fructose corn syrup! Mmm, mmm, nummers!
Oooh, and then there's that SUPER TASTY phosphoric acid! Yay!!
Next time you pop the tab on a can of Coke, remember this:
For every can of soda, your body withdraws 20mg of calcium from the bones to neutralize the acid you're dumping into your body. (The average can of soda has a pH of 1.5; your blood is 7.2-7.4)
Drink up, kiddies!

Posted: 4/17/07 at 7:14pmI haven't had a soda in years, but I am addicted to good ole fashioned unsweetend Iced Tea. I drink at least three glasses a day (on the weekends) and usually one or two a day on the weekdays. DAMN it's good

Posted: 4/17/07 at 7:27pmI live for Diet Dr. Pepper. There's no way I could EVER give it up.
#14re: Who likes being soda-free?
Posted: 4/17/07 at 7:28pmI stopped drinking soda 8 years ago. Occasionally, I'll have some Sprite when I'm sick, but I can only have so much before I start to get a headache from all the sugar.
Wanting life but never knowing how
#15re: Who likes being soda-free?
Posted: 4/17/07 at 7:29pmI would probably drink soda more often if I drank diet, but no diet for me.
#16re: Who likes being soda-free?
Posted: 4/17/07 at 7:29pmI used to constantly drink sodas, but now thanks to Vitamin Water I've been able to limit myself to one can a day.

"You wanna coke?"
"Yeah."
"What kind?"
"Doctor Pepper."
Except it's even better in Atlanta, the Coke headquarters. Pepsi doesn't exist. And, if on some off chance a chain restaurant serves it, the conversation is:
"I'll have a coke."
"Oh, is Pepsi ok?"
"No thanks. I'll have water."
It's actually very entertaining.
I'm not so big on soda. Carbonation freaks me out, but I used to love Diet Coke.

I'm addicted to Diet Coke, it's amazing and no calories? It's fantastic.
I have one a day when it's in the house, and one a week if it's not. If there's non in the house I overcompensate with copious amounts of iced tea.

I'm not a fan of any of the big brands, and I'd give it up completely if it weren't for a little gem of the market called Jones Soda.
Haven't had it yet? GET A BOTTLE. (My favorites are the strawberry lime and green apple.)
#22re: Who likes being soda-free?
Posted: 4/17/07 at 8:09pmCaroline - I'm in your camp. I haven't had a soda in YEARS. I'll occasionally mix a little 7-up or ginger ale with something stronger for a nip, but those times are few and far between anymore. In truth, while water is my real favorite, try to take my unsweetened iced tea away and I'll remove your arm!
A click for life.
