Posted: 3/12/05 at 10:51amnorning ll....sounds like a grand night in NYC and Spamalot/BWW... THe world premier of Jeffery's pice "Meditation, Rhapsody and Bacchanal was SPECTACULAR. First off, the piece is a duo for FLute and percussion (uned gongs, mixed cymbals, waterphone, 5-octive marimba and bulgarian tapan) --- it was well crafted, formed and fun, yet challending to the ear....especially since Jeffery is my better half -- I loved. The two musicians are gave virtuoso performances -- we know the violinist very well and he can handle anything --- After the dress yesterday, I turned to Jeffery and said "Jeez, you sure are making Joe (thi volinist) work hard! And the percussionist -- WOW. Svet played everything so well, but when it came the he third movement and the tapan was introduced...Svet is from Bulgaria and knows this flk drom very well --- just amazing. At the end of the piece the audience leapt to the feet and Jeffery and the duo recieved a very long and heartfel ovation...I was (still am) pretty proud! OK -- I've rambled long enough....have a great weekend all -- NYC bound in the afternoon!

PJ -- the tapan is a folk instrument -- lookas likea small bass drum -- it is played on both sides -- one with a mallet and one side with a switch -- the drum makes a wonderful range of sounds and s quite jouous and boisterous sound....
Not coyote bite...yet!

Posted: 3/12/05 at 1:06pmGoodmorning Hussys, My dvd player went on the brink this morning so ran over to Frys and got myself one of those 5 dvd sony players. ( I have had the old one for many years). I usually do a little research on things like that before buying them but I have a few netflix items here this weekend and I figured since I have had luck with Sony and since it was on sale for $89.00 I couldn't go wrong. Whats everyone upto today?

Posted: 3/12/05 at 4:17pmDame - DVD players are so cheap these days. I do not find video games cheap having made yet another trip to the Blockbuster. In the car - and listening to Avenue Q (carefully skipping inappropriate songs and muting f***) - the six year old concludes at the end of the college song - "It isn't that they want to go back to college - they want to be young and they can't." Dame – how were the poppies? Did you steal any seeds? K – I look forward to the Pinot and others tonight.

Happy Sunday. Bright and Sunny and 30 in Chi. Does not look too bad.
I need to warm up the tonsils. Only the dog is awake - a rare quiet moment here.
We had our “Auction” private chef dinner last night. Let’s see, sitting at a table with your best friends, eating fabulous food and drinking copious glasses of nice wine - yes it was nice.
Addy - I took notes for you and here is the menu:
1. mussels with coconut milk; salmon canapes and tuna w/mango/jalapenos
the mussels were delightful. I could have had 50.
2. Foie gras w/apricot chutney on toast points.
PETA - take me away! There is a reason to put those ducks in a cage -simply tasty.
3. Carrot soup with mint oil and pistachios. - very nice
4. Endive salad on duck confit - yummy
5. Lemon sorbet - (I do not need it - I switch to red and that is cleansing enough
6. Poussin (baby chicken)stuffed with almonds, parley and currants w port/ reduction and chickpeas. I never order chicken at a restaurant. - but excellent
7. Petite rack of veal w/morel cream sauce(heavenly), fava fiddlehead ferns and white asparagus - excellent
8. Dessert was some cake with fresh cream - lovely
Cookie - the Pinot was excellent - gone in a flash.
Have a great day all.

I had a spectacular day yesterday, and am getting ready for another fun filled day in NYC! Tickets to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels today at 3 and then meeting the fabulous K before we go to Andrea McArdle (where I expect to see many other fab BWWers...)
PalJoey - got your message. HOW in the world did you spot me from afar?!? Too funny... I wish I had seen you. I got the message while sitting in Fluff after the show and burst out laughing. I even had Undi listen to it

Hi all... happy Sunday 3 pm and glorious in the great PacNW... woke up at noon after a fantastic cast party.
Wow... closing weekend was great. Bittersweet, as closings usually are. Sad to part from such an incredible and talented cast, but kind'a glad it's over and ready to move on to the next project (assit. directing and choreographing(??) Camelot).
We really found our stride on Friday... I've never been much of an actor (mostly a dancer my whole life), but I felt like I grew so much during this show. Saturday matinee was ok, but there was a strange energy... but OMG, Saturday evening/closing was just amazing. Not a dry eye in the cast during "What I Did for Love". And the audience was superb. One of those shows that happens once in a while... definitely didn't get this kind of response from the last time I did this show in 1990.
Well, I hope you all are having a great Sunday (you're having quite a weekend, Addy)... and if you're interested, I'm putting a link to pix to our closing night performance.

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. It certainly sounds like Addy is having a marvelous time.
It is a hot and sunny Monday morning down here. So, I think iced tea is in order.
