um, I don't know about that...
I actually do work during the summers, usually Monday-Thursday 10-4, with breaks on Thurs to go to Broadway in bryant park, and occassional Yankee day games, and maybe some vacation weeks in between.
But I do work a little!
Summertime...and the livin' is easy!
Hi everyone!
Dame, I almost choked on my gingerale when I read that you called me a sexyhussy! Nothin' sexy about me after slaving away til all hours of the night...I need to get out and do something FUN!
Have rehearsal again tonight. Can't wait for the concert tomorrow!
Liotte, I LOVE the programs in Bryant Park. And the concerts n Central Park. And the evenings at Yankee Stadium. Summer in the city is just so wonderful!

Summer in the City
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Cool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Summertime and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is fine
Oh your Daddy's rich and your ma is good lookin'
So hush little baby, don't you cry
One of these mornings
You're goin' to rise up singing
Then you'll spread your wings
And you'll take the sky
But till that morning
There's a nothin' can harm you
With daddy and mammy standin' by

Summer lovin`, had me a blast
Summer lovin`, happened so fast
Met a girl crazy for me
Met a boy cute as can be
Summer days drifting away
To, uh oh, those summer nights
Well-a, well-a, well-a, uh!
Tell me more, tell me more
Did you get very far?
Tell me more, tell me more
Like does he have a car?
She swam by me, she got a cramp
He ran by me, got my suit damp
Saved her life, she nearly drowned
He showed off splashing around
Summer sun, something`s begun
But, uh oh, those summer nights
Well-a, well-a, well-a, uh!
Tell me more, tell me more
Was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more
Did she put up a fight?
Took her bowling in the arcade
We went strolling; drank lemonade
We made out under the dock
We stayed out till ten o`clock
Summer fling don`t mean a thing
But, uh oh, those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more
But you don`t gotta brag
Tell me more, tell me more
`Cause he sounds like a drag
He got friendly holding my hand
Well, she got friendly down in the sand
He was sweet, just turned eighteen
Well, she was good, you know what I mean
Summer heat, boy and girl meet
But, uh oh, those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more
How much dough did he spend?
Tell me more, tell me more
Could she get me a friend?
It turned colder; that`s where it ends
So I told her we`d still be friends
Then we made our true love vow
Wonder what she`s doin` now
Summer dreams ripped at the seams
But, oh, those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more.
In the good old summertime, in the good old summertime.
Strolling through the shady lanes with your baby mine.
You hold her hand, and she holds yours,
and that's a very good sign.
That she's your tootsie-wootsie,
in the good old summertime.
I'm a gonna raise a fuss, I'm a-gonna raise a holler
About a-workin' all summer just a-trying to earn a dollar
Every time I call my baby, try to get a date
The boss says "No dice son you gotta work a-late"
Some times I wonder what I'm a gonna do
But there ain't no cure for the Summertime Blues
Well my Mom and Pappa told me
"Son you gotta earn some money
If you wanna use the car to go a riding next Sunday"
Well I didn't got to work told the boss I was sick
"Now you can't use the car cause you didn't work a lick"
Sometimes I wonder what I'm a gonna do
But there ain't no cure for the Summertime Blues
It's gonna take two weeks for I have my vacation,
I'm gonna take my problem to the United Nations.
Well I told my congress man and he said, quote:
"I'd like to help you son but you're too young to vote"
Sometimes I wonder what I'm a gonna do,
But there ain't no cure for the Summertime Blues
Dgrant,
Have you seen the new show at the Ahmanson?
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer
Just fill your basket full of sandwiches and weenies
Then lock the house up, now you’re set
And on the beach you’ll see the girls in their bikinis
As cute as ever but they never get ’em wet
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
You’ll wish that summer could always be here
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer
Don’t hafta tell a girl and fella about a drive-in
Or some romantic moon it seems
Right from the moment that those lovers start arrivin’
You’ll see more kissin’
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
You’ll wish that summer could always be here
You’ll wish that summer could always be here
You’ll wish that summer could always be here

DAME - we go next Thursday. Did you see it already? I'm really looking forward to it - provided they don't start cancelling things in the MIDDLE of a run!
I have not seen it but I heard it is fabulous. We are also goiong on Thursday but in 2 weeks. Ihave cancelled my subscription to the Ahmanson. I am very disspoited in their upcoming season and with the array of discount tickets always available I fetlt there was no need.
don't mind me and my little summer songfest
Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime
End of the spring
And here she comes back
Hi hi hi hi there
Well, summer days
Those summer days
I'd lie down when I want to
Out of school
County fair in the country sun
And everything is cool
Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime
That's when I had most of my fun back
Hi hi hi hi there
Well, summer days
Those summer days

We chose not to renew, as well. Only really interested in Ernest (provided they get Ms. Rigg) and we'll just see it individually.
Dgrant,
Did you score tickets to Wicked?

Happy Summer day in Chicago. Returned from St. Loius. Very green downstate. Working at home and will have to cover homework as the kids arrive.
See you all at about 5:20 for cocktails.

DAME - since we've seen it twice in NYC, we decided to pass. I may run up and see it with my family in Denver after the summer, though.
brdlwyr- That was a quick trip!
And there is no such thing as seeing Wicked too many times, IMHO.

Liotte - The Ahmanson is a major venue here in LA. And not seeing Wicked again has more to do with going to see the many other things available than anything else.
That makes sense. Though I have seen all the stuff in NY now, so I keep going back to shows repeatedly. Wicked, All Shook Up, and Rent are my current repeat offenders.

I have tickets for Wicked twice in the next few weeks.
