re: Who's Who

Haha, I know what you were trying to say, but I couldn't resist.

I would like to clarify that my "poems" for Marc were purely out of humor. I could see how much butt kissing was going on. The real reason I started doing them was a tongue in cheek jab at the butt kissing. When you type things online that could get lost ,though. But then again, itt also makes me go back and wonder was I really just being tongue in cheek or was I butt kissing? It makes me doubt what my own true intentions were, but maybe that is a good thing to keep myself in check.

re: Who's Who

There is a H U G E difference between the way Margo posts a dissenting opinion and how some other people do so.

Margo speaks respectfully, with supported facts and ideas--and leaves it at that.

Some people trash and repeat their nasty comment and ideas and jump into any thread on said topic to continue to trash and repeat.

It's a difference of decorum. It's a difference between what one can post and what one should post. It's a difference between talking with your friends and talking in mixed company. It's a difference between talking in private and talking on a public board.

So, if you violate that concept and act nasty in a thread--you just might get a nasty PM.

re: Who's Who

Nasty is in the eye of the beholder, obviously. If the person in question only receives one pm about their supposed nasty behavior and many other pm's of friendship, support, and agreement, the majority votes are what will rule and influence.

re: Who's Who

1) If someone is a known person and says so here, it is likely they would be questioned anyway and I couldn't blame the boards for questioning the veracity of the claim, so best to keep to onesself for any number of reasons

2) Just because someone JUST joined doesn't make them suspect as the same person with a different name. There ARE new people who join this board from time to time

3) What does it matter who someone is in their every day life? If you like and respect their posts, if they make you think or grow...that's great. If not, ignore them and move.

"Some people trash and repeat their nasty comment and ideas and jump into any thread on said topic to continue to trash and repeat."

IE: Have different opinion from one stated, an opinion that happens to be negative. And yet even though it is against the populous, continue to relay it and support it. You've never had that or done that, have you JRB?

"It's a difference of decorum. It's a difference between what one can post and what one should post.

So we must all be sweet and agreeable and well behaved and have no contrasting opinions or any ire or annoyance at stupidity.

Some of us, MOST of us ARE friends on this board JRB, MOST of us feel free to express our opinions however strong. And NONE of us should be afraid of having a venomous PM sent because we state our opinion.

re: Who's Who

Fair, I think the difference is in the amount of respect one show to others when disagreeing or even debating to the point of argument. I remeber having a back and forth debate with someone (it was insignificant enough that I don't remember who)a while back over some political or social issue. We were on opposite sides of the fence and each of us expressed our opinions pretty strongly. The diffrence is that it never degenrated to the point of personal attacks, name calling or anything like that.

We agreed only that we would never agree and it was left at that. Obviously, since I don't remember who it was or what the topic of discussion was, it left no hard feelings.

A strong opposing opinion doesn't have to be expressed in a personal manner or end up with wishing death on someone. I think that may be what is being said by most of the people here. Someone who belives in what they're saying should be able to defend it without the back up of other personalities and without getting personal.

re: Who's Who

But you see, it is very different to talk with your friends in private than in public. When I hang out with people from this board in REAL life, our conversations are anything goes. But when I chat with them here, it is different. Here is mixed company. Here is public.

And, no, I never claimed to be perfection--and you can bet your butt I, too, have gotten some choice PMs in the past. :)

I never said that people should agree on everything. I never said that people should avoid posting a dissenting view of an artist, a show, etc. I do say that posting NASTY comments about performers is in poor taste as is relentless attacks on that performer.

And, while I'm sure one has lots and lots of friends here, it doesn't mean that one is as well liked and loved as they think.

A certain PM was not "out of the blue". It came after a series of debates/fights that took place on the board and in PMs. Sending the now famous PM was not cowardly as the person who sent the PM did not use an alias and made his comment directly to the person, unlike say sharing the PM with others and never once engaging with the person who sent the PM even after he tried to clarify that the PM wasn't meant as harshly as it sounded, apologizing for that aspect of said PM.

And, if you guys want to gang up on me because a particular person can not fight on their own, fine--bring it.

If that particular person is going to continue making all of this such a big freaking deal--which in itself is hypocritical as they are NOT an innocent victim--then I can only pity them. If this person is going to carry this outside of the board, then I pity them for that, too as EVERY board member I have met in person has had nothing but a fresh start and kindness from me in person. And I made this clear to this person prior to the infamous PM of 2004 and in the actual scandalous PM of the 21st century itself.

In the end, enjoy the scandal and controversy. Enjoy having something fresh to gossip. Just get over yourselves when you are done. I'm moving on.

re: Who's Who

I would like to echo the fact that just becuase people are 'well-liked' by some, does not mean they're well liked by all...or even, really, the majority.

I see a lot of sh*t go down on this board in which I never involve myself because, in the end, I don't really care. It's a message board.

The only thing that gets my goat (and yes, her name is Sylvia), is hypocrisy. The castigating of others for behavior that they themselves display. It shows a remarkable lack of self-knowledge. Once, in college, I was brought into a professor's office and he went down the list of what he doesn't like about my acting. What was fascinating was that it was the same exact list of what I didn't like about his. It's then I truly understood that our critiques of others are truly critiques of ourselves.

Know thyself. Even if that self is a bitch. Know it.

re: Who's Who

jrb, first of all, I don't even know what you're talking about. What personal attacks have I made? Your opinions on these threads come off at least as strongly as mine, and you are no angel here as far as the wording you use from time to time. If I am that much worse than you, I would imagine other people would back you up on that claim. So far, no one has.

And your "apology" email was nothing near an apology. An email of apology doesn't refer to the person you're supposedly apologizing to as "vicious," among other things. By the way, I'm not a "coward" for not confronting you - I just couldn't think of one thing to say to a person who attacked me the way you did in that pm.

re: Who's Who

To you, my dear. To you they have not. re: Who's Who

I NEVER trash performers or shows. I don't even post negative reviews of them. I did once--a LONG time ago and realized that it was not appropriate.

But then again, darlin, I am out on this board--everyone knows (or can find out) who I am. I am not anonymous like you.

re: Who's Who

Listen, kiddo, because I don't share your views on Madonna (because clearly this is what your neck hairs are up over) is no reason to call me a c*nt. Seriously. If you can't take someone disagreeing with you, get out of the kitchen. And I am one of the least anonymous people here, if you pay attention.

Do you send pm's with that language to everyone who trashes Britney Spears on this board? or Donna Murphy? or Idina Menzel?

re: Who's Who

You are correct that I did not take back my question in the PM--only the word used--which by the way--I use in the same way robbiej or Margaret Cho use. That's why I said I didn't mean the PM to come off as harsh as it did. I should have included smiley faces and "lol"s.

In the end, it was a PM no different than the ones I have sent you before. And, I did say that I would still be nice to you in person. And, I will. Every member here has gotten a hug and a fresh start from me. If you want to make this all more than it is--you'll be doing it with you and your friends.

re: Who's Who

No--I have PMd you on your nasty comments on many topics. It was your unneeded nastiness about Madonna that prompted that PM--but you've been getting PMs from me for a while.

You miss the point. It isn't about Madonna or Donna Murphy or whoever. THEY don't give a crap about what we think. I don't really care what you think about them. It's the way you go after these things at the expense of other board member's opinions and feelings.

You post the way you post to get a rise out of people. Well, darlin, it worked. Be proud of yourself.

However, I'm not going to hold any of this against you when I meet you. That's what I mean about a "fresh start". From my gracious ego to you.

re: Who's Who

I think I've gotten two pm's from you before this latest go-round. It's not like we have some big pm relationship.

No one else seems to feel the way you do. If they do, I wish they'd let me know. I really don't feel like I am the one person on this board who is so much more difficult and mean than all the rest. But like I said, if I am hurting other members' feelings, they need to let me know. If I start to get a barrage of pm's to that effect, I will deal with my way of posting.

But from what I hear and see, strong opinions are not new on this board. I don't think I go after my opinions at the expense of other people's feelings. Anyone?

re: Who's Who

To answer your question as to whether others have gotten a similar PM from me--you bet. When a poster continually behaves in such a manner, I let them know it. Some of us on this board have been here since the beginning and do feel a little entitled to let others know when they are being out of line. I try to avoid it. I usually ignore people. You made this impossible.

Oh good grief, TVBoy--you of all people should know better. Official press releases are not just random notes faxed to people. Or, a phone call from the producers' office is not good enough?

Am I REALLY getting this BS argument from you? Have you EVER worked on the administrative side of things? Do you REALLY think Playbill should send someone out to "investigate"? They don't do that! That is not what they are!

Playbill is NOT in the position to set the record straight unless the people involved set the record straight.

Good GRIEF!

And my point, darlin, is maybe she didn't have that option. So, let's all realize that we do not have all the facts and stop damning her.

And, yes, there are people questioning her niceness/divaness in this thread--I can only imagine that IssaMe thinks so ill of her as to start these vicious threads, betraying the trust and confidentiality of his/her company.

Oh well--I know that plenty of you vampires feed off of the nastiness, so dig in!

LOL! On Sunday, papa? re: who's who

I also LOL because 2 of those posts were regarding your nastiness toward Donna Murphy. A 3rd was from another nasty Donna Murphy debate (that you were a part of) that while directed at TVBoy, included you in the plural pronouns. The 4th is always justified when people put spoilers in the thread titles.

I stand by all of that. Shall I dig up your gems?

The fact is--I stand by how I behave on this board--and I take responsibility for when I cross the line*. You do not. And, your defensiveness is only proving so.

Dig up my gems. Doesn't bother me. I'm not the self-appointed Arbiter of Social Behavior on this board, so it's irrelevant. I don't claim to be better than anyone else here. I don't tell people how to post and how to behave. If you're going to do that, you'd better practice what you preach, and clearly, you do not. This is my last word on the well-worn subject.
