Why That Username?

Posted: 1/7/09 at 1:59amI'm...just a girl. Pretty simple. Apparently, the second one. I actually wasn't even thinking of the song when I made it...otherwise I would've been more careful! It gets stuck in my head every time!

At the time, I really loved Cabaret.
Yeah.
That's pretty much it.

MTF3's post made me laugh. It also made me realize how much I hate people who say thing like " I don't hate gay people, my friend is gay." As a defense on why there is no way that they can be homophobic or ignorant any person. I just used being gay as an example because that is one that is heard a lot. MTF3, if that's not who you are, and someone is calling you that don't let it bother you.
Personally, other then my love of the performing arts, everything else that I do and love can be considered typical male activities. Yes, I have been told by people that because I love theatre etc that I must be gay. Do I let that bother me? No, because I know that I am not gay.
As for my username. It used to be Winston89. Winston Prep was the name of my high school and 89 is my year of birth. I changed it to Winston3 because when I started playing sports I was randomly given a number 3 jersey and for whatever reason I kept that number regardless of what sport I was playing. I actually know a lot of guys who used the same number in every sport.

"89 is my year of birth"
I just heard a loud clock ticking above my head . . .

The origin of mine is rather boring.
I used to produce code in the Java programming language for a living. One day a colleague & good friend from Venezuela jokingly referred to me as a "javero mierdero" translation, ****ty java programmer.
I cleaned it up a bit for bww.

Javero, I always thought your name was some kind of weird derivation of Javert from Les Mis. I like the real reason for the name much better.

I'm a fan of twisting song lyrics into statements. So I took "you charm the husk right off of the corn, Ma-ame" and made huskcharmer.
It also makes a great double entendre: "I'll charm the husk right off of *your* corn"

Here's my answer from another thread (a good while back)...
It's an old theatre story. Back when I was pounding the pavements in New York a couple of decades ago, we'd be told every now and then at the ugly cattle calls to sing our "best 8 bars" of a song. Frustrated, I walked into an audition one time and suggested to them if I sang the blues could I get 12 bars? (Fortunately the musical director thought that was hilarious. He understood that "blues" is written in 12 bar phrases instead of 8, and it was my clever and pathetic way of trying to get 4 more bars out of it. He told me just for that, I could sing the whole damn song. I got a callback and almost landed the part... it was a replacement for a lead on Broadway. They narrowed it down to three of us and that's when I got cut. The point is, I decided to be gutsy, semi-clever... and ask for more time to be heard... and it paid off. So I decided to use that as my "name" on this board. It seemed like a personal but logical choice for me.

Besty, I suspected as much, but I'd decided for myself that your name derived from your knowledge of the best twelve places to drink in America.
Mine is an utterly obscure reference in a P.G. Wodehouse novel. Reginald Tresilian was the ghostwriter of Dame Dora Faye's "Theatre Memories."

Posted: 1/7/09 at 10:20amMine is rather mundane and boring, but has absolutely nothing to do with me being angry. My wife and I share this user name for any internet purpose, and it is simply a combination of our names. My wife is the lovely MADeline.

That's why clever name is so clever! :)
And yes, Reggie, every now and then, I feel like explaining it again ... so BWW doesn't think I'm a big drunk.
Or at least not a professional one. Well, I'm not in their union.
But I practice every now and then.

Posted: 1/7/09 at 12:23pmI've used this name for a long time. I sometimes go by Lacey or Lace, so that's where the lace part comes from. The luscious part...I think back in the day I was trying to think of something sexy or I've always been told I have luscious lips...so that's where that comes from. Now I think it's sort of cheesey, but it's my go-to. And it has a nice ring. :)

Mine is thanks to two of my great nieces and nephews. When they were little they couldn't say uncle Greg (They weren't getting those LE's and R's in words yet). So they called me unca geg.
I noticed a lot of people pronounce or spell it uncage, but it is uncageg!

Besty, I don't know why but I always thought it was in reference to bars of music, not drinking bars.
My username was one I borrowed from someone on another board when my first account got banned. So I just carried it over here. But coincidentally, I really do like Stockard Channing.

"Stockard, you of all people were banned???"
LOL! Yes, can you believe it? Not from this site, but another one that had two groups that dislike each other intensely (don't ask) and they got me banned. I never even wrote to the admin, I just borrowed the other username.

Hmmm. I don't know if you're familiar with the children's book and TV series The Animals of Farthing Wood. One of the characters is a weasel called Weasel. Weasel was male in the books, but female in the TV series. She is loud, obnoxious, annoying, and tends to sing a lot. My friend pointed out certain similarities between Weasel and myself right around the time my family got the internet for the first time. So I decided to use Weasel as my netname inspiration, but spell it funkily, so I got Weezle out of it. I've been known as Weez ever since, even to many of my IRL friends.
When I can't get Weez, I go for Fuunsaiki (robot horse from G Gundam) or Crittenberger (saw the name engraved in a paving stone in NY, it amused me). Once in a blue moon I'll go for PyramidHead (awesome scary monster from Silent Hill 2) and I've also used Fluellen (Henry V) and Musetta (La Boheme) before now as well.
And if I can't get one of those names, I sulk and refuse to sign up to the site. XD
