Justice - very much so! I recently did a post about OLIVER (the film) in addition to an appreciation thread for Chick-fil-A, among other things.

I haven't been online much this week, so I don't recall if I have been overly negative. But so what if I am? There's too many things I enjoy in life to post about - the negative ones stick out.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Cap...

Relax! You make it sound like someone performed unneeded surgery on you.

Sorry you didn't like it. But, there will be other movies out there for you to see.

Deep Breath....

I agree with Plum! Oh my God, did I say that?

Well I do, loved the score, enjoyed the film.

By reading that review you could have sworn the world ws coming to an end. Talk about melodramatic. It's only a movie..geez.
Sorry you wasted your time and money though..that blows.

I didn't like it all that much. Depp's performance was kooky enough, but there was a significant lack of meat or satisfaction to be found in the screenplay.

The kids were caricatures, most of them merely representing their character's flaws. My favorites were Freddie Highmore and AnnaSophia Robb, a truly funny Violet.

I was also disappointed that John August felt the need to explain Wonka's personality with a half-hearted flashback featuring Wonka's dad. I liked it better when he was a mystery.

I did, however, love the production design and Danny Elfman's score.

THREADJACK:

Elphaba - who is it this time?

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Marquise,

That's what people do - they review movies. If you thought mine was cruel - then you have read what critics had to say about FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY.

By the way - every time a film like CHARLIE is made, the world dies a little more and more...

I didn't think your review was cruel. I thought it was melodramatic and over the top, there's a difference.
