This story is a year old but I still thought it was worth posting. Not much has been said about this. I think it is sad but hope Warren comes around. Warren and Annette should talk to Cher. Sounds like Cher reacted the same way at first regarding Chaz.
'Kathlyn Beatty made her public debut at the age of only ten weeks.
As a baby, a tiny dark-haired bundle, she appeared at the Golden Globe awards in 1991.
Her mother, the actress Annette Bening, brought her along to see her doting father, Warren Beatty, who had been named Best Actor for his role in the film Bugsy.
It was a high point for Beatty, who even then was 54. After decades as probably the most infamous and prolific seducer in Hollywood, here he was, a family man at last.
Kathlyn delivered a monumental surprise. She insisted on being presented with a new name - and a new sex. She had styled herself Stephen Ira Beatty. Indeed, it soon became clear that she had been living fully as a man for at least two years.
What's more, she is now apparently preparing for gender reassignment surgery which will allow her to become fully male.
Confusingly, although she wishes to become male, it is clear from her writings and blogs that she is attracted to men.
At the graduation ceremony from the unconventional Arete School, Stephen Beatty smiled broadly and, as can be seen in photographs of the event, his devoted actress mother looked utterly thrilled, cheering and clapping her child's achievements as she beams in a bright blue mortarboard.
There is much to celebrate - Stephen, as we should now call 'him', is highly gifted as a writer and poet. He has had work published, and has also performed his poems.
By contrast with Annette Bening, Stephen's father, Warren Beatty, seems nothing less than glum in every one of the eight pictures posted by the school of the event - tense, grey, and old.
Whether that reflects his true feelings about his daughter's remarkable transformation, his demeanour lends weight to reports which suggest that Beatty is 'crushed'.
