Because German musical fans are mostly interested in stupid jukebox shows and Lloyd Webber musicals. So only very few would watch it at all. Apart from that, it'd be all in English, so many would have problems to really get it.
Apart from that, I guess it is being broadcasted only in the US either way
Edit: there are only a few honorable exceptions - and they are all in this thread *lol*

I would loooove to watch the Tonys on TV...
We can be thankful that they broadcast the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes on German TV!
Sorry guys.
I always imagined that just like with the Oscars, they were broadcast all over. I thought it would be done because of the star power.
Well, you'll be about to read all about it here. :)
Yeah, THANKS BWW! *g*
But regarding star power: If you mention names like "Patti LuPone" in Germany 98% percent of the people would reply "Who?"
Sad but true...

True. They'd only have a clue, if there were big movie stars like Hugh Jackman involved, but Patti Lupone, Michael Cerveris and even Chita Rivera and stars like them would only cause a "who?".
Maybe at some time they'll do at least a full web-broadcast
Argh, why do I live in such a small town???
The "Starbucks"-Thread really makes me want to go get a strawberry and cream frappucino...

There is no starbucks in wetzlar??!!
Gee, I used to be an addict but somehow discovered it's really expensive going there regularly
Question. Have you heard of THE GREEN TABLE and Kurt Jooss?
No, unfortunately there is no Starbucks in Wetzlar... But that's not too bad because I would be a very poor guy if I had the chance to go there whenever I want to! *g*
I was really happy when they opened a "Subway" in Wetzlar!
The next best thing is a CoffeeBay in Gießen. It's on my way to university which can be very attractive... AND they have Ben&Jerry's IceCream.... uuuuuuh!
EDIT: Jooss was a dancer, right? I'm not that familiar with ballet but the name rings a bell in my head...

Heard of yes, a Ballet from the 30s, but not yet seen. Have you been doing it at some time?
Yes but never taught to me by Jooss, who originally staged his ballet on our company in the early 70s. I joined in 1975 so
I have always worked with his daughter.
She lives in Amsterdam however and I did visit her there not long ago. :)
My ballet company has filmed THE GREEN TABLE three times. I danced the role of The Young Soldier the second time we filmed it.

GuyfromGermany, "Subways" isn't for free either I love these sandwiches as well by the way.
Glebb, I just see, you got a Bye Bye Birdie signature Being a huge Charles Strouse fan (and probably the only one in Germany who knows his name *lol*) I highly welcome that.
That's great!
What's the name of the ballet company you're in?
Thank you for your high welcome! :)
It's called The Joffrey Ballet.
We were first to do The Green Table in the USA.
The only one in Germany who knows Charles Strouse?
*clearsthroat*
Now now men! :)

*lol* okay okay okay, apart from the people in this thread.
Edit: But facing that his shows nearly never get performed in Germany it is not hard to not know his name at all. Years ago I caught sight of recordings of Annie, BBB, Rags and All American. Well and then I just had to get all of his recordings.

Thank you! :p
I'm just watching the MTV Movie Awards... I hate to say it but Christina Aguileras performance was fierce! Anyone else seen it?
Oh, you're doing "A Midsummer Night's Dream"! I did the play in school! The music by Mendelssohn is beautiful. Are you in it?
The Dream - me?
We did Ashton's THE DREAM based on A Midsummer Night's Dream last fall (We have done it many times since it came into the rep in the 70s, again Joffrey first company outside The Royal Ballet to do it.)
I think there is a picture of me as Puck in my fan pages.
I just googled "Joffrey Ballet" and that's what came up! *g*
Sorry if I misunterstood something...

Yeah, the website of the Joffrey Ballet says they lately did it in october 2005.
And we did Cranko's (Stuttgart Ballet's) Romeo and Juliet this past season as well. :)
Oh, right!
I guess because it says "Current Season" I was a bit confused *g*
We are starting our last week of the current season and will start rehearsals for the next season one week later.
