Actually, THIS is what I love most of all - the respect and genuine admiration they have for each other.

This is the guy I miss, Patrick Rafter. He had such a nice personality. I miss his "Sorry, mate" whenever his ball toss when astray.
Speaking of personalities, Serena seems to be such a sourpuss at times.

Oh, Lauren - Mr. Rafter is easily amongst my favorite players ever! I still wish he hadn't retired so early
I do love my 'gentlemen players', and he was certainly one of them. You just HAD to smile at his "Sorry, mate".
And yes, Serena can come across that way - I think it's just the result of a super-passionate personality processing the charged atmosphere of competition. Many have questioned it, but it's never changed. At least she has stayed true to herself - no one can accuse her of trying to pander

Wow, I predicted at another site that Venus would win 7-5, 6-4. If I still gambled I could have made some loot. Excellent showing by both sisters. I love Venus steely determination to remain the Queen of SW19.
Mary Carrillo called up perfectly imo. Only 7 points and 2 breaks of serve separated them. Venus simply played the big points better and punished Serena whenever she had to throw in a second serve.
I couldn't see anyone else on the women's tour beating Serena today except Venus. Venus hits a heavier shot that travels through the court. When Serena's tight, her groundies become shorter and loopier.
Gotta file a minority report about Serena not pandering. Her "come on's" after an error off her opponent's racket were non-existent today and the grunts were barely audible. I have to question why she can't remain so composed throughout matches with players other than Venus. Just to keep things fair and balanced, I do believe that Sharapova's shreiks and grunts are the height of games(wo)manship as well and should be banned from the sport.

Excellent match analysis, Jav - you really know what you're talking about. I love it!
And, I'll grant you the gamesmanship stuff. I was talking mostly about her demeanor off the court.
I don't need to comment anymore about the Shrieker
And, let's have a five-setter for the guys!
Also, I want the sibs to win the doubles later on - let's have them OWN Wimby this year!

Forgot to add that while both sisters looked nice, Serena has never looked better on court. The dress was both figure-flattering and and functional while her hair was not the typical hot mess. Serena sometimes goes for excess which is often more a miss than hit.
Now, if we can just get mama Oracene to stick to a hair color that's a bit more flattering. That color on her just ain't the biznezz. It makes her look like a jaded Motown act that hasn't gotten over being booted from the Supremes 40-years ago by Barry & Diana.

By-the-way, Jav, I have a confession - and I'm not exactly proud of this, mind you - but I LOVED Serena's black leatherette cat suit. All her boobs, all her butt, and ALL the attitude! I actually stood up in my house the first time I saw her walk out in that

Well, crap. Why, why, WHY won't they get Centre Court covered?!?!?
Someone needs to find Rog during this break and slap him upside the head! Part of what I love about him is his even temperment, but sometimes the stoicism just drives me right up the wall
He just doesn't seem ENGAGED - and Rafa is playing so cleanly, and with INTENT!
Right now, there is no question who is the better player - and it ain't Rog. I kind of wish Rafa would just finish it off quickly - give Rog something to think about besides how to manage his portfolio.

Wow, what an end to the match.
Amazing!
McEnroe is just blathering thank you, thank you, to Federer.
Federer is so gracious, it is hard not to like, him. And Nadal is so amazingly humble and almost shy - adorable.
I wish both of them could have won.

*sigh* I missed it! I saw up until the first rain delay, and then got busy doing other things.
Congrats to Rafa - I'm actually surprised Rog came back at all, so to have it become what it did is something else. Hopefully, there'll be stuff on-line at some point.
At least from the part I saw, Rog didn't deserve to win.

It was a freaking amazing match. Federer won two tiebreakers, and then I believe Nadal won the last set 9-7.
I got back in time to watch the last set when it was 6-6.

I watched from the beginning of set three.
It's amazing that they were able to make this a more thrilling match than last year's amazing final.
The tiebreaker at the end of the fourth set was on of the most nerve-wrecking moments of a sports game I've ever seen.
Now let's see if maybe Federer can turn the tables on Nadal at the next French Open.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.
