I had all four pulled out at the same time, (The bottoms were impacted and had to be dug out) but I never experienced ANY pain, bruising, or swelling. I heard every horror story before hand and was quite suprised that I had no pain.
Being I was broke and in college, I eneded up selling my vicoden for food money.
I hope your pain isn't too bad!

Tylenol 3, Tylenol 3, Tylenol 3. Sure, the codiene will make you sleepy, but the joy of a painless mouth!
I had my wisdom teeth taken out too, about a month ago. Only now do I feel normal -- it takes about a month before it all settles down. My wound was slightly infected, which meant I had to take a syringe and squirt saltwater into the wound every day. Yuck!

Don't drink of straws. Nothing too cold or too hot. But you should've known that already...
You think being the patient is bad, try being the surgical assistant and having to see how the bloody mess removing your teeth can be. It ain't pretty, especially when they're impacted and you have to use the saw and ugh... Enough of that.
Coffee, anyone? (but not for you, cause you can't drink it.)

Posted: 6/8/05 at 2:05pmSleep and Vicodin are good advice, Shira, as are the sof foods. Cold things may feel good, but then again, the extreme cold may agravate the pain, so you'll have to experiment a bit. In between naps, read the boards, we'll do our best to keep you amused (anyone have a good joke?). You were sooo brave to have all 4 teeth taken out at once! Sure hope that you feel better soon!

Seriously, you guys do amuse me, that's why I'm always on!
Captain -- NOT FUNNY (well, maybe a little bit, since it's after the fact...)
I can't have coffee? Oh well...not that I care. I don't want it, hot and the last thing I need is a mix of antibiotics, caffeine, and Vicodin...
If you guys do know (and not to sound gross or anything), but how long till all the bleeding stops?

Posted: 6/8/05 at 2:21pmDepends on everybody. Some patients I saw didn't bleed at all, but others acted like a water faucet turned on full blast.

Posted: 6/8/05 at 2:23pmIt's been over 24 hours, and it's only bleeding onto the gauze with pressure -- no spouting faucets here...
