Wonderful Town

My college is doing Wonderful Town in the fall and I'm wondering if anyone else has done this show and what they thought. It seems like a pretty campy, fun musical, but I just wanted opinions. :)

Also, what do you think I should audition with? It doesn't seem to be heavy too on the belting/mixing. I'm an alto/mezzo.

I saw the recent revival. It was pretty good and very entertaining, but the lack of a big set took away from my enjoyment. Anyway, there is a HUGE part that you could play. The character's name is Ruth, and you should audition with a comic song. The part relies more heavily on acting than singing, though.

OMG! i love this show! Ya you should play ruth! she fun... but you also need to pull off a kinda country accent... but a good song would have to be everythings coming up roses... or something that has that old 30's type of feel to it.

Oooh my high school is most likely doing this next year. And I'm a lyric soprano, and I know Eileen is a soprano, but can anyone tell me more about the character?

well Ruth is a woman trying to make it big in writing, but in doing so shes fighting off sexism in the place where she works... while Eileen... Eileen is just trying to fight off sex! Basically every where she goes guys are throwning themselves at her like Chick Clark(youll learn about him if you get deeper in the show). but I love this show and you'll get hooked immediatly... if you have any questions or need anything from the show pm me.
