Thank you for starting this thread, Namo, and for posting that photo which expresses so much of what we all went through during those trying times. Some of you know my special connection to that photo, and unfortunately, I/we all saw too often that so many dying and suffering had to do so alone because their families were nowhere to be found and their actual loved ones were not considered family. So many died alone and so much more taken from them besides their health.
There is an article in today's NYT reporting how infections in NYC are up and too many are going without treatment.
So much work still to do.

There was some really great news released yesterday not only about the efficacy of PrEP, but also about the willingness of young black men who have sex with men to make informed decisions about beginning the PrEP regimen if they are provided with non-judgmental information in spaces where they can talk honestly about the actual sex they are having.
Every level of stigma and shame is another potential infection. Let's make sure people around us know about PrEP, too many people still haven't heard of it.

...Or they just aren't using it. How can you make such a generalization? We don't know how many people do and do not know about PrEP or just decide not to go on it.

Was at BAM last night for the Harry Shearer/Judith Owen's Christmas Without Tears Show. A portion of the proceeds went to the Elton John Foundation. Had performances by Alan Cumming, Mario Cantone. Fred Willard., Bela Fleck, Artie Lange and Peter Asher from Peter and Gordon who sang with Paul Shaffer.
Nice night for a good cause.

Actually, 'band, I was on a panel yesterday, a panel that was not all white people, and I heard the anecdotal stories of two executive directors of two national organizations that work with black and Hispanic men who have sex with men, and those anecdotal reports, FROM THE FRONT LINES, are what I based my report of good news on.
