Thought this was funny ...
Jamie Foxx - followed up "Ray" with "Stealth"
Helen Mirren - followed up "The Queen" with "National Treasure: Book of Secrets"
Nicholas Cage - followed up "Leaving Las Vegas" with too many movies to name.
Hillary Swank - made "The Core" in between her two wins.
Halle Berry - followed up "Monster's Ball" with "Catwoman" (An Oscar followed by a Razzie)

What...no Marisa Tomei?
I downloaded 'Equinox' a few months ago and was underwhelmed despite finding Marisa usually skillful in the right role. Now, Jennifer Hudson is very much a work-in-progress. I don't believe that 'Winnie' ever got a US distribution deal though it wasn't the follow-up to 'Dreamgirls'.
I expect Hudson to be around a LONG time, just because of the brilliant voice and her affecting personality. Whether or not she scores big in films again, it won't hurt her fame either way.
As for dear Marisa, at least she got invited back to the prom with two more (well deserved) nominations. She's proven her "upset" wasn't a fluke.
Now Mira Sorvino ... great performance in Mighty Aphrodite (which I recently rewatched), but ...
Hey, now! Romy and Michelle makes up for anything!
Natalie Portman had Your Highness and the release of The Other Woman that seem to get release in the first place because of the Oscar. Thor was all right but not the most well-written part in the world. She's going back to doing two Malick films apparently.
among the most disastrous, Michael Cimino - Heaven's Gate
When I think awful follow ups I almost always think of poor Mira Sorvino in MIMIC. ROMY & MICHELE is my all time favorite movie so I thank God for her in that, but her career after it just died. I saw her last year in Pinkberry and wanted so so badly to talk to her but she was on the phone and I wouldn't interior her.
Side note for you ROMY fans - I brought my poster to Janeane Garofalo's shoe a few weeks ago and she signed it to me "F*CK Off!" Love, Janeane Garofalo. I'm in love with it.
Perhaps the best worst follow-up of all time.
Sir Richard Attenborough followed his "Gandhi" win for Best Director with "A Chorus Line."
Dianne Wiest followed up her win for Bullets Over Broadway with two classics back-to-back: Cops and Robbersons and The Associate.
Side note for you ROMY fans - I brought my poster to Janeane Garofalo's shoe a few weeks ago and she signed it to me "F*CK Off!" Love, Janeane Garofalo. I'm in love with it.
Love this.
"among the most disastrous, Michael Cimino - Heaven's Gate"
Oof, yes to this addition. No matter if you think Heaven's Gate got a raw deal from the press and actually has a lot of good things going in it, how many Oscar winners can say they bankrupted their studio?

I've always wanted to see Jeanine Garafolo's shoe!
