I never finished War and Peace but I can still proclaim that for me it was a total snoozefest.
I always love how the worthiness of a topic is in direct relationship to one's opinion of the subject.
I do wish people would print a daily list of what's acceptable to fuss about. I never seem to get that memo.
you were judged unworthy of the memo.
and we don't have to watch entire movies anymore--cool--i never did want to finish TALENTED MR RIPLEY--but I did anyway!
Yes, papa, I did get THAT memo loud and clear.
You were removed from the email blast after the last time you fussed.
Now where did I leave that rat's ass?
Meh--doesn't matter. Not gonna give it anyway.
let's dispense with the notion that one cannot make a judgment on a film like borat without seeing the whole thing. it's one joke. yes it's relived a thousand times in different places and with different people, but it's one f*cking joke. to try to imply that walking out of this and passing judgment on the humor is somehow as much of a travesty as walking out of the usual suspects or really any film with an actual plot and narrative structure beyond, "boob goes to america," is ridiculous.
Yes. Since the New Year, I'm all about rationing the rat's ass. As well as mine.
Maybe it's 'cause I'm old.
I just don't feel I have to subject myself to something I don't like.
It's rare that I walk out on a movie. The last time was back in the '80s.
And where is it written than an opinion can't be given on a "walk out?"
I posted my circumstances when first asked... I walked out after about 45 minutes.
It's up to you whether or not you want to "value" my opinion based on those circumstances or not.
In my opinion, it was part of my "review" that I walked out.
It's not for anyone to say whether or not I may give an opinion, however.
hey, if you think it's okay to pontificate bout something you didn't see, fine with me--one more thing to keep in mind in reading your posts.
i think it's a shame and unworthy of intelligent folk, but what the hell do i know?
I've lost seven pounds off my rat's ass since the first of the year. Opps, wrong thread.
Well there's that aspect to the ass, too. Which makes it harder to ration!

"That's the whole thing, touchme, is that Borat ISN'T from a "terrorist" country. But the fact that come, not ALL, of the people he encounters see him that way..."
I get that, for sure. And, that is how I read the film, but I just worry that because of who this film is marketed to that it won't be read that way by that core audience.
"At least several professional screenwriters thought so. And many of the leading critics. And audiences."
Now, to be fair, there were quite a few critics that didn't like this film for the same reasons I'm stating now. It even made a few critics "worst films of 2006" lists.
"It's rare that I walk out on a movie. The last time was back in the '80s."
Please don't say it was Xanadu! I don't think I could take it!
my point was alot of smart people like it--not just the rabble.
and some smart people don't like it...
The only film I have ever walked out of was Full Frontal. Apparenlty some smart people liked that one too.
i walked out of two: blade and the big hit. both were at $2 tuesdays, though.
sisnt see it SOMMS, but it's Soderbergh--there will always be fans
Don't waste your time lil. Can I say that?
You can say whatever you'd like...
