"The notion of Christ as a family man is not the only raw nerve "The Da Vinci Code" has touched. Albinos are bothered that one of their own has yet again been depicted as a villain.
Paul Bettany plays monk-assassin Silas, an albino with red eyes who carries out a series of bloody murders to secure the secret of the Holy Grail, a trove of lost Christian documents that could prove Jesus had wed.
Michael McGowan, an albino who heads the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation, said "The Da Vinci Code" will be the 68th movie since 1960 to feature an evil albino."
I am NOT making this up
Oh, Jesus Christ. People: Grow a thicker skin.
I hope you're not sayin' somethin' about their SKIN.
Racist!
Well, I guess if those damn albinos weren't the living embodiment of Satan, they wouldn't be represented as such now, would they?
This pales in comparison to the plight of non-congenital dwarfism.
I want to ask THIS of Michael McGowan: "yeah, yeah, yeah...but what about POWDER?"
But Danny DeVito sometimes place a nice guy.
i agree, bway, and also note that it's a well established fact that albinos are by nature inherently evil. powder, of course, being the exception that proves the rule if he was in fact an albino and not an alien.

Melanin Rocks.
What a colorless and bland attempt to steal focus from an important issue.

The Albino Code Movie
"So, instead of complaining endlessly, I wrote a short film parody, entitled The Albino Code, with the following premise: "What if the story of The Da Vinci Code could be told from Silas's point of view? And what if Silas were an actual person with albinism thrust into a world of secret codes, mystery, and assassination?" The film will be shot in early April, and will be available here on May 11, 2006 (one week before the release of The Da Vinci Code)."
"The Albino Code is my way of mocking certain novelists and Hollywood filmmakers who continue to spread stereotypes of all kinds. At the same time, I want my film to give movie-lovers some insight into what having albinism is really like."

It's amazing to me what people get offended by...
What a transparent attempt to fake amazement.
CLEARLY you have no idea what it's like to be an albino.
All kidding aside, though, it's hard to see, I imagine, every representation of you in some media as a not-so-nice guy.
I mean, you know, the gays are always so lovable, aren't they? They're never serial killers, obsessed, sick wackos, over-the-top drama queens...nothing stereotypical like that.
Oh if you're going to picky...I'm not amazed, but more confused.
It's always interesting to me when I discover that stereotypes exist that I didn't know about...I mean, I never knew that people associated albinos with evil. Do they REALLY?

Powder wasn't an albino murderer or anything like that. he was just really white.
Why shouldn't they be offended? How is it different from gay people being portrayed as criminals and psychos in films so overwhelmingly in the past?
I've told John Waters that he should do a movie about Albino's and give Cyndi Laugper and himself roles.
Powder didn't murder -- he HEALED: sick animals, old people and the hearts and minds of bitter souls like Mary Steenburgen and Jeff Goldblum. Until he turned into a lighting bolt or something.
Did I ever mention that I was supposed to be in that movie?
I just feel like so many different kinds of people and ethnic groups have been portrayed as villains in films, especially considering there are villains in a majority of movies.
And, at least in the book, Silas is not a completely stereotypical character who is just "evil." Like Bettany talks about, he has dimension to him.
I know that when I see a chubby murderer in a movie, I feel the exact same way. We are not all evil, people! Nor are we all jolly.
And I knew two African-American albino girls growing up. They were both named Sunshine. Why would a parent do that to a child?
I can't tell you how offended I was when Jessica Alba said that she cooks great fajitas in an interview. What? All hot girls make great fajitas?
Someone's been keeping track of all the movies featuring evil albinos? This guy clearly doesn't have enough to do...
