Wow...I would think y'all would have more sympathy. Especially since you get angry over the media representation of gay people, black people, women.
What, exactly, is the difference?

"Powder" was not an Albino. According to the story, there has never been a positive portrayal of an Albino in film.
I thought the Albino in "Pricess Bride" could be described as sympathetic. Sure he's an executioner, but he's a kindly exceutioner.

I'm a straight white male. I guess I don't have to show sympathy. Good.

Actually...I think the guy has a point.
I can tell you that my entire opinion of albinos was shaped by seeing FOUL PLAY at the age of six. Whitey Jackson (the character's actual name) freaked my sh*t out...and I'm terrified by albinos now.
You can't imagine the horror I felt when I saw an albino walking towards me and waving. I turned around to make sure he wasn't waving at me...and he wasn't. He was waving at his albino twin brother. TOTAL FREAKOUT.

I feel that clowns are also oppressed by the movie "It". I'm terribly scared of clowns.
In all seriousness, I have never noticed this "evil albino" trend. However, when I see someone that is an albino, I do everything in my power not to look longer than I would at a normal person. I feel that the thought process there is in fact treating them differently. Which is something that I feel badly about in hindsight.
That being said, I think that the core issue here is hypersensitivity.

Posted: 5/17/06 at 2:39pmBut where are the films that have characters with albinism who are just people living their lives? Is it really being hypersensitive when so many films use characters with albinism as villians or oddities? It's understandable to want to see a balance.
