I posted my message last night, Reg, so it wasn't mixed up with the hoi polloi's. You don't really have an excuse for missing me.
But I'm very forgiving. Just ask PJ.
Anyway...Mumm is "okay," not great. Here's one of my favorite Champagnes. I am happy to share it with you. Cin! Cin!

Miss Pennywise, trust me: I have not missed you. Your posts have caught my eye many, many times. In fact, PJ and I discussed you post-party this afternoon.
Mumm is good, I think. But Veuve is my favorite.
I ended up making a faux-Britten Bombshell (q.v.) with white wine. I can't bring myself to "waste" the champers on me alone.

Now you have me worried! But I guess it's better to be talked about than overlooked!
When it comes to champagne, I refuse to choose ONE favorite. I am willing to do a "Top Ten" but in no particular order. I don't think there is one that is better than all the rest. It depends on so many factors!
Sadly, these days, I TALK more about champagne than drink it (a by-product of parenthood...even though you need to drink more when you have children
). But I want to drink more, does that count?
Here's another one that I adore:

Miss P. that totally counts.
And I confess to absolute ignorance. I know the few that I know. And I'm fond of putting champagne (or something sparkly--love cavas and proseccos) into things.
Pal Joey is far more educated than I about champers.
And I assure you that everything we said was positive.

I've never met you in my life, but I assure you I'm not.
And don't hold "champers" against me. Lots of people say it.
But I can stop if you need me to.

Oh no. I don't really care. I was totally joking!
Back in the day, no one called it that but him, so it's just an association I make. Actually, I don't have anything against my ex-husband. We've remained friends, and I still care about him and his family. He's a good person. I was just making "ex-husband jokes" for the hell of it! (But when I make "in-law jokes," I'm NOT kidding. "kay?)
I see you joined the day after my birthday. So sorry; you missed MY party...by ONE day! You have a great deal of catching up to do!

Miss P., I totally get it. (I'm not one of your in-laws either, just so you can sleep tonight. Um, this morning.)
Sorry I missed your birthday; I won't miss the next one.
I joined because I'd been reading for a while, and someone finally got on my nerves enough that I had to respond. I was gratified that it ended the conversation. I soon discovered that there were far more positive than negative experiences to be had here.
Present company included, natch.

"someone finally got on my nerves enough that I had to respond."
What an interesting little tidbit.
Fortunately, the realization that it quite well could have been me will prevent me from pressing for further details.
I must say, your entrance here has been a bright and welcome change from the doldrums that seem to have overtaken of late.

By-the-by ~ if PJ actually thinks that ANY scotch would be left over here, then he hasn't been paying attention. But, I'm sure he has.

Aww, you're sweet. Thank you for that.
I've been reading some of your posts, and you possess all of my favorite qualities. You're witty, considerate, opinionated, polite, fun, intelligent, warm, well-read, humble, gracious, extremely level-headed and, occasionally, madcap. (I'm not sure that's really you or a word I associate with those zany musicals and comedies from the 30's!)
We need more people on this board like you...especially the "level-headed" part! I hope you feel welcomed!

Miss P and DG, you're both incredibly kind. That's exactly the note(s) I hoped to strike. Indeed that I hope to strike in real life.
No, DG, not you. Not even close.
In fact, the person seems to have disappeared. Unless, of course, he/she has appeared in other guises. But I don't need to tell you that bile and mental illness presents itself (themselves?) no matter how one tries to hide it (them).

That's been my personal experience - but I SWEAR I'm trying to work on my issues.
And, oh MY, you've attracted Addy, MissP AND me all at the same time - does that mean you're Jack from THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK?!?

As I said before, Addy: a girl after my own heart.
Champagne is like sacramental wine: it has to be disposed of respectfully when the celebration is done.

I love the moments after a party is over when one can sit down with a last remaining guest (or one's partner/spouse/co-host) and enjoy a last glass of champagne while reviewing the events of the evening...
Well, I love the party the most, but I love those quiet moments at the end of a wonderful soiree!

"that's when we start opening up new bottles!"
Which is why I always make secret requests to the party planner to be seated at MissP's table . . .

Addy, I know just what you mean. Sometimes one has the most amazing conversations at that point.
And sorry, both. I missed that last line--the witches of Eastwick one. (I was a teensy bit over-served tonight, as we say back home.)

DG, I have been known to bring extra bottles of champagne to parties, chilled and ready to be had for the asking. I believe in being prepared.
Reg, I just love a man who uses euphemism.
Addy, I do NOT know what you mean...because EVERY conversation I have with you is "amazing" no matter what time of day or night!

Miss P., a good euphemism is like . . .
Oh, never mind.

Wait, that was a simile, not a euphemism.

MissP - dear friends and us load up a cooler with bottles on ice, and take off to experience the sights (wherever we are) - stopping now and then to admire the scenery, and toast ourselves and whatever is responsible for the gift of life.
Care to road-trip?

DG, what time do you want me to meet you and where?
Oh, and how many bottles should I bring with me?
