Posted: 12/2/05 at 4:30pmI have that PBS special and it's remarkable. I saw the stage version more times than I care to admit and it's criminal they didn't film that. It's superior in every way to the film (with the exception of Pacino whom, I agree was terrific and much better than Ron Liebman on stage). Spinella still owns the role of Prior, Chalfant was perhaps definitive as Hannah (I love Streep but Chalfant was better) and Marcia Gay Harden was heartbreaking as Harper (though I did like Parker).

oh, oh, and i forgot about Real Sex, that show always makes me laugh and sometimes cringe.
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.

Posted: 12/2/05 at 5:07pmNot only is Angels in America the best thing to come out of HBO, I think it's probably one of the most brilliant films ever made. The writing, directing, art direction, editing, photography, and of course the acting which garnered awards galore were all flawless. Jeffrey Wright is unbelievable. Stole the play as well as the movie, which is hard to say seeing the performances of Streep and Pacino. It's rare when a film is as good if not better than the stage version.
