Oprah, Matt, Elizabeth on THE VIEW (the last, curiously, the best and toughest questioner)... he's faced them all, he's told us about his authentic self, his Godly self, his shame, his awakening, his swooning, and he's recycled the same info one time too many. Now, the book will sell or sit next to Mary Cheney's on discount shelves everywhere.

Why did he write lurid details about his sex life and dedicate the book to his 13 year old daughter? His goals, at best, seem murky and self-serving. Joy, by the way, was having none of it.

After all this publicity (especially Oprah), this book has a very good chance at debuting at # 1 on the NYT Times bestseller list.

In that case, the 15 minutes will become 20 or 40.

I haven't read the book, but it seems likely to me that the details include how he was felt during those encounters that give some insight into what life in the closet is like.

He dedicated it to his daughter because the book is about becoming who you are, and his daughter supports him.

Joy might have problems with some of the things he's done, but I think she understand where he's coming from. I remember her getting into a discussion with Starr about the whole thing where she was the one defending him.

I'm just sick of the extreme way gay people are viewed in this culture. From the demonization of "the lifestyle" as a choice, to the obsession with which celebrities might be deluding their audience. And now, another story of perfect redemption! Beautifully packaged, with 3 shows getting "exclusives." And this particular case is all about abuse of power, duplicity, and the requisite mea culpa to everyone -- to make a buck.

To me, McGreevey's palpably enamored of his own three act "arc" -- you can hear the pitch that his ghostwriter must've used -- and now with every talk show host his neediness is out there as he seeks aprobation for his courage in addition to every penny he makes on the book.

I also find his obsession with touting his own new gay monogamy not only at odds with the philosophies of plenty of gay people, but highly presumptuous. He's been in a committed relationship with a man a vert short time, and speaks with zealous authority about this "authentic" marriage that will last forever, he just knows, rescuing him from both the lie of heterosexuality and the "sin" of backroom sex. He sees life very black and white -- come out, purge yourself, mate, settle down in a mansion, and all those dark desires will be magically channelled forever.

Sorry, Jim; the world is full not only of practicing bisexuals, but, gasp, lots of very nice, very Godly people who also like to fool around every now and then, even in those naughty places, just for the fun of it. Life is not always a Lifetime movie.

McGreevey is using his sexuality as a defense against criticism of his corrupt government. All these feel good appearances on Oprah and The View are just partnering with his lies and coverups. Let's see how well he does on Hannity & Bones tonight.

I haven’t read the book, but I thought the Oprah interview was honest and genuine. He didn’t claim to be an expert on gay life. On the contrary, he came off as someone who still has a good deal to sort through and work out. I felt that he was trying to be as honest as possible about his life then and now. He even admitted that if it hadn't been for Golan's attempt to blackmail him, he would probably never have had the courage or impetus to come out. And based on what was discussed, it sounds like the book could be helpful to those living a closeted life.

Oh my christ, I just got around to watching my DVR of McGreevey on The View. What a skeevy, horrible little man. Trying to join with Rosie by starting sentences with "Rosie knows how it is...." ick. Slimy.

Joy and Elizabeth nailed him on being "against gay marriage" when he was the governor because he didn't want it to reflect on him. And then he goes on to say how the book is about "being who you truly are" and how "everybody would be healthier if gay people could be out."

Hi, Jim, a lot of us have been out for a lot of years and don't need to be lectured about the importance of it from somebody who as recently as two and a half years ago was saying anti-gay things BECAUSE he is gay.

People who live in the closet can do such damage to the world.
