Posted: 9/22/06 at 12:30amIf he would have come out, probably he would have never be a governor. I think he is a good man who regrets some bad choices he's done. Oddly, Elizabeth seemed very concerned about gays on The View, Joy was just being funny and pretty much all the girls were attacking him except for Rosie, who stuck up for him.

Posted: 9/22/06 at 12:34amI don't know WHAT could lead you to believe that the creep is "a good man." He was an incredibly corrupt politician. So, you know, grab your heroes where you can, I guess, muscle. But you should maybe look into it.

Posted: 9/22/06 at 12:39amOh, I've no idea what he did in his political career, so, I meant about his personal life, he seems like a good man.

Posted: 9/22/06 at 7:48amHe deceptively and purposely married two women, and had two children, solely to further his political career. Not such a good man in my book.

Who are we to judge? But perhaps the goodness of his manhood is only known by Cipel, his Aussie pal, and 280 investment bankers from Bayonne who took a leak at the Molly Pitcher rest stop.

I've decided to run for Town Council Papa so I am no longer gay. Rath and I are getting married. She is no longer gay either. We are adopting JudyinDisquise. She is no longer a slutty drunk nor a Canadian. We are also adopting the Elphapug. There ain't nothing better than walking around a wrinkled, panting pooch to rack up the votes.

One of the things I find horrifying about this whole thing (and there are many) is that the little HinterGays actually think he's a "good man" and will, on some level of their consciousness, find him to be somewhat of a role model ("He's a good man! Plus, he's a gay man who made it to a high ranking public position!"), without knowing any of the facts about what he really is.
Saying "Well, I don't know anything about his politics, but personally he seems like a good man" is total bunk, because you cannot seperate his politics from him as a person. His personal psychology determined his political actions...and ALL of it was creepazoid. He used women, he lied to women, he bore children under these false pretenses, and then he blasted ALL of their lives apart.
He is NOT a good man, kiddies.

Personally, for me, I'm not really separating his politics from him as a person, necessarily. What I'm doing is saying that I think he deserves a chance to live his life happily as who he is now. In no way am I saying that he didn't do things that were not right or didn't damage lives, but it seems likely to me that now that he's not in the closet anymore he will not continue to make the same kind of awful decisions he did in the past. If he screws up again in a big way publicly then I'll probably say "f*ck him", but we'll see if that happens.

I understand wondering that, SOMMS, but I could wonder that about a lot of people. I could understand wanting to give the public a chance to react to his experience after the whole thing went down, though, no matter how they'd react. I'm sure the money will also be nice. Whether McGreevey is a good man or not, I think the book will probably be beneficial to a lot of people. It's not like the message of it is "Live a lie! It's the greatest!" or something.
I just think that everyone deals with certain things in their lives differently. The fact that every gay person in America hasn't been able to to declare who they are and push for their rights makes that clear. Some people don't have the strength or the tools to be able to deal with who they are for whatever reason and so they take the wrong turn again and again. I don't think those people should be smashed down once they're finally able to be who they are. The more stories people in the closet see about people who are happy now being who they are, the better things will get. That's just how I feel about it.

That was rhetorical Mr., I know exactly why he wrote the book.
I'll stick to reading nonfiction.

I give up on the discussion then. There's no point if you can read minds and I can't.

somms, i for one will not sit idly by while you demean and disparage and show general disdain for this "gay american" who has been brave enough to share the tragic story of how he was cruelly, cruelly, i say, forced into a life of secrets. how can you take sides against a man who clearly bears no responsibility for his actions? he was in the closet, man, can't you get that?!? this book will fortunately set the record straight on a lot of things that need to be straightened and can be a guide to future gay governors on how to come out of the closet at the right time.
luckily i can tap my feet as i type so i'm no longer sitting idly.
