She's not saying the attacks were faked, she's saying they were suspicious, like many other people who wonder how the towers could have collapsed, and that it was easier to destroy the towers than maintain them. She's not exactly a pioneer of this theory.
It's just the press being its 'sensationalist at a junior high level' self.

Posted: 3/2/08 at 9:02pmYou're right, Penny - I was thrown off by the opening paragraph: "Actress Marion Cotillard sparked a political row yesterday after accusing America of fabricating the 9/11 attacks."

My French friends don't believe for a second that 9/11 was "faked." They were--and continue to be--appalled by it. But Mlle. Cotillard is expressing a common sort of French anti-American sentiment, and it is not going to endear her to American fans. And she already had the "French thing" going against her!
Trés stupide on her part, if you ask me.

Damn, and I was so looking forward to seeing great things from her in the future.
Any chance these were taken out of context?

Cotillard could not be reached Sunday but her lawyer, Vincent Toledano, told AFP she had "never intended to contest nor question the attacks of September 11, 2001, and regrets the way old remarks have been taken out of context."
I don't think her career is in jeopardy...

Posted: 3/2/08 at 9:50pmI am more shocked she still thinks the MOON LANDINGS were faked. Good God, that was almost 40 years ago- AND NOBODY TALKED? I always love these conspiracies that rely on thousands of people keeping their mouth shut when the whole office knows about me & Ken from accounting in the Supply room two hours after it happens.

I'm sorry, but her appeal in America is already "limited" at best. That Oscar was the best thing that could have happened for her U.S. career. I mean, the French don't even listen to Piaf anymore. Does anyone really think that the same people who buy tickets to see Nacho Libre are interested in a movie like this?
I'm sure she's going to beg forgiveness and say that her comments were misconstrued, but she sure hasn't done anything to change the view of Americans who already think the French are obnoxious chauvinists.

Posted: 3/2/08 at 10:00pmIt sounds like she said these things years ago and they re-surfaced after she won the Oscar. I am a bit shocked and I just got La Vie en Rose from Netflix on Friday with plans to watch it tonight. Not sure if I care to see it now with this in the back of my mind. So if she thinks we faked 9/11 and the moonwalk, I guess she thinks we faked the shuttle explosions also. I really hope it turns out that she was misquoted.
