Posted: 3/3/08 at 12:51amI understand being offended by her comments, but that really has little effect on her skills as an actress. Her turn in LA VIE EN ROSE shouldn't be missed.

"Not sure if I care to see it now with this in the back of my mind."
I've never used Netflix and I'm not quite sure how it works, but since you've already rented the movie, you might as well watch it.
If it comes down to "supporting the actor", well, you already have.

Obviously she saw Capricorn One and doesn't know the difference between reality and fantasy.
And I had finally just stopped calling them freedom fries too. Damn!

Posted: 3/3/08 at 11:20amI never mentioned "supporting" the Actor. You can go to the Netflix site to see how it works. Don't care if she gets a cut from this rental, she won't get any more from me if what she said is true.

Wow.
Given the fact that I was in NYC on 9/11 I have trouble beleaving that they were fake. It is clear. The 747's crashed into the twin towers. It is a sad fact but a fact none the less.
As for the moonlanding bit. Tht almost made me crack up. The only people who didn't believe in the moonlandings were people who were convinced that the US faked it so that they could get ahead in the race with Russia.

winston, these crackpots (Rosie O'Donnell included) don't deny that planes crashed into the towers. Many of them think that the government knew it was going to happen and possibly planted explosives to assist the fall. (Remember Rosie O'Donnell saying "This was the first time fire melted steel?")
I too was standing on a street in the city when they fell. It's disgusting that people make these accusations.

1. Smart people disagree on 9/11, so I can forgive her for thinking it was inspired by the gov't. I think it's bad to characterize her comments as "it never happened". She said the inspiration for the attacks wasn't solely terrorism, not that it never happened.
2. However, her moon landing stuff is insane. She doesn't quite come out and say that it never happened, but she hints at it. And, in response to that, I say: Russia would've tattled if we faked it.
3. She's a brilliant actress.

Anything she has said is still more plausible than Scientology.
And most of those folks still have careers.

"Smart people disagree on 9/11"
What does that mean? Only dumb people accept 9/11 the way they saw it and heard it reported?

Posted: 3/3/08 at 5:16pmNo, I think touchme just meant that even very intelligent people think there may have been some sort of conspiracy; it's not just ignorant people who have that opinion.

Posted: 3/3/08 at 5:23pmthanks Shbrt, I agree on that, but has Cotillard been accused here of not being smart? I think the thread is just saying that her opinions may cost her some work here.

I don't think she's not smart, she's just very ignorant for saying what she said. I just hate the knee-jerk reaction many Americans have to this: "The French suck, we hate the French, etc." This is a stupid comment from an actress who shouldn't have opened her mouth, not the opinion of an entire people.

Posted: 3/3/08 at 6:23pmI know, it really is disgusting. They bury the fact that she said it a year ago in the middle of the article and make it seem like she just said it the other day.

My post here was deleted by those in charge.
I did not see the reason why but it is beyond my control.

Posted: 3/3/08 at 6:49pmAlso, apparently, in the video she just says she's interested by the plethora of conspiracy theories about various events and how they make her think. She never expresses an actual opinion about 9/11 and whatnot, but says because of these conspiracy theories she doesn't believe everything she's told or that she reads. I don't know if it's true because I don't understand French, but you can find the videos easily on Google France.

I have trouble beleaving that the Govt set up bombs in the basement of the tower's without anyone noticing something. Keep in mind, that the basement of the world trade center complex was a public parking lot. The general public used it as well people who worked there. I find it hard to believe that the government could hide something like that so well without anyone noticing something. Maybe if it were a very closed off area then maybe just maybe. But, not if it is an open space.
Keep in mind, the original attacks in 93 happend in the parking lot of the building. They didn't search cars or anything like that and they let the truck through no problem. Then the truck went boom.

Well, that could be up for debate, too!

Well, by making those statements, she has given up the chance to play Tom Cruise's girlfriend in a major Hollywood.
Or to play Jake Gylenthal's girlfriend.
Or Adam Sandler's girlfriend

"It was a money-sucker because they were finished, it seems to me, by 1973, and to re-cable all that, to bring up-to-date all the technology and everything, it was a lot more expensive, that work, than destroying them."
You are all wrong! She merely says it was an elaborate demo project. Good ol' terrorists, they were only trying to save us some money!
