re: are you ready for some football? the college years

lemme see here, we go to illinois (a big ten conference game) and win in their house, ugly, but we won. ball state comes into the big house and drops 26 on the vaunted tsun d? it's ball state. that's like a half a step away from being a division 2 school. yeah, that's pretty much equivalent. *snort*

Except when you take a look at how poorly Illinois has been playing the past few years and especially when they're playing a school that's "incredibly amazing" you would expect them to get beaten by a little more than 7. Michigan, you can pretty much always expect a game like the one today.

While I agree with your assessment of Michigan's win over Ball State, it was Illinois, papa, and the number one team in all the land should be able to handle them a little more soundly than that.

Michigan's second-string defense was in almost the entire second half. According to Lloyd Carr, the first string defense has been playing tough teams non-stop since the beginning of the season. They are exhausted and they needed a break. Plus, if you look at the yardage. We were able to hold them to 55 yards rushing. They scored because of 2 plays given up by our offense and 2 plays by our second-string defense.

Oy, am I reduced to rooting for Florida?

Rutgers- Louisville is tonight, I am hoping for a strong game and A Scarlet Knights upset. So I assume the Cardinals will win by 35.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

If Rutgers wins tonight, Florida's in the driver's seat for the Championship game. They should just have to win out to go, unless BCS numbers do something crazy (or if the numbers call for an OSU/Michigan rematch.)

My alma mater, Appalachian State, are the defending national champs and cuurently ranked #1 in Division 1-AA with a 9-1 record. Go Mountaineers! Ok...I know...who cares about D 1-AA football...

However, since everyone else in my family went to North Carolina, they are the D-1 school I pull for -- which means I haven't had much to cheer about for the last 10 years in football... However, it looks like they are on the verge of hiring Butch Davis to coach so who knows...maybe things are looking up.

we play USC Saturday in LA........I just want to beat the suckers, but somehow I don't think they'll let another Oregon school beat them......

I am also a App State Mountaineer fan!
I only went there for one semester, but I enjoy rooting for them.
Boone is too small but it is lovely town, with some great people.

I think UNC is a great fit for old Butch, and he seems to fit the Spurrier/Carrol role of a superior college coach.

Quack Attack all the way against USC!

ya know, i can think of a lotta things it'd probably make more sense to do than drive the 7 hours to ohio to get drunk with my brother-in-law and a buncha crazy rednecks while screaming myself hoarse watching the game. 'course, no one ever accused me of having any sense.
