re: are you ready for some football? the college years

The University of Georgia 15
South Carolina 0

The first time since 1987 that Spurrier takes the shutout,
I do admit to much enjoyment of that. That "half a hundred"
he hung on the Dawgs in Athens still smarts.

Stafford has talent to spare, but those INTs were not pretty.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

Ok, I'm going to say it right now and get it over with. The Buckeyes did a good job.(that's all that I'm going to say about that)

I'm worried about our game next week, playing Notre Dame. In our first two games we haven't shown much with our offense. Our defense has been good, but I don't know if it's enough. I'm hoping that we're just not doing anything major until we have to.

heh, i figured you'd enjoy that, 'guin.

elphie, look at the bright side: no rhett. and on a personal note, i just don't think that anyone ought to name their kid rhett. it's just not fair to the kid.

dq, my loathing for tsun is rivaled by my loathing for touchdown jesus. it's a shame anyone has to win that game.

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

Just to let you know, this was all brought on by Ohio State. In 1969 (I think) OSU scored a touchdown against Michigan to go ahead 48-12. Instead of kicking the extra point Woody Hayes went for 2 and got it. When asked why he went for 2 if he knew the game was already won he answered, "I went for 2 because I couldn't go for 3"

That's just poor sportsmanship.

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

That is what makes it so much fun though.
If Georgia fans didn't have Spurier and UF to fume over and call names we would have never made it through the Ray Goff era.

When it is on the field I am all for no holds barred play from the begining to the end.
It is when it bleeds over to people making issues of it all in real life that it has gone to far.

My wife is a University of Tennessee fan (UT is another huge UGA rival) but it only effects us one day a year for about 4 hours.

I must say that I still think Georgia is hurt by the multiple rival thing. Every border state (except North Carolina) has a team that Georgia fans consider a MUST WIN or we will die type of situation. That is what I think makes us the (pre-2004)Red Sox fans of football. re: are you ready for some football? the college years

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

If Michigan stinks up the joint against Notre Dame again I'm not going to even consider banking on the Wolverines until Carr's gone.

I'm not a huge OSU fan overall but Tressel has his team READY for big games, at least.

(And I hope Florida beats Tennessee by 100 points. And they go for 2 ever time.)

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

It's not necessarily Carr that's the problem. Keep in mind that he won the National Championship back in 1997. I'd have to say that some of our players are not that great. We've gone downhill ever since Navarre came into the picture.

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

well, whose fault is that? not that i am complaining, but the players are recruited by the coach and his staff. it's not like a pro program where you've got to take the players the gm gives you. carr chose these players. if they suck it's a reflection on him.

Ok, good point. I do agree he kind sucks, but they're not going to get rid of him...not for awhile anyway. May aunt says he reminds her of Eyore from Whinnie The Pooh

Most likely he spent too much time with us surronding him.
Those Bulldogs know a lot about QB pressures, but (at least in my day) they know even more about the Kegs, Bongs, and Babes. re: are you ready for some football? the college years
I am afraid Mr. Mitchel just can't handle his medicine like the Georgia boys and let it get to his head.

Every time you post a picture of Oregon players, I think that they're my high school team because we have the same colors. We also have the same fight song as Michigan, but the words are different obviously.

I'm so pumped for the game tomorrow!!!! Yay!!!!

Danc, when I was stationed in Frankfurt, I'd go to the Frankfurt American HS games, only because they used the same fight song as Oregon.....

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

Anyone know if Tennessee's Jim Bob Cooter, their fifth year senior fifth string QB, has been reinstated since his summer arrest and indiscretion?

I don't really care, I just like the name Jim Bob Cooter.
Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

elphie's ducks were quite impressive (even with the gift call) it was a tremendous comback with so little time remaining.
it was the type of game that could spur the ducks to big things, possibly.

i agree that nd was insanely overrated but michigan was impressive in every aspect of the game.

florida pulled it out, i just hope both they and the dawgs are undefeated going into jacksonville, suleen could write seven disertationd on the amount of alcohol that would be consumed in jacksonville that weekend.

second straight shutout for the dawgs, first time since 1980, even though it was uab, i love that. three in a row is within the realm of possibility.
