Yes, that is an oft repeated phrase ...

You know, I predict a good season for OSU. I know that Michigan is going to suck, like they always do, but I still want to cheer for them

One week from tonight! Northwestern visits Miami of Ohio for their season opener. It should be an emotional game for both teams. Randy Walker, Northwestern's head coach who died of an apparent heart attack earlier this summer, was a running back and head coach at Miami of Ohio:

"Walker, who was also Pat Fitzgerald's close pal and predecessor at Northwestern, was grooming Fitzgerald to follow him, something the two often discussed in the car on recruiting trips. The target date was sometime in 2012. Instead, in less than two weeks, in one of those twists of fate too whimsical to be made up, Fitzgerald will open the season by leading the Wildcats into Yager Stadium against Miami of Ohio, where Walker starred as a running back and started out as a head coach.

Walker scheduled the game years ago as a tribute to the college programs that defined his career. Since his passing, it has taken on another dimension. Both teams will wear decals with his playing number, "41," and his nickname, "WALK," on their helmets. Additionally, the Wildcats will wear rectangular, black-and-white jersey patches reading "WALK" over their hearts and keep them there for the remainder of the season."

re: are you ready for some football? the college years

just for the record, i excuse chris wells' fumble as freshman jitters and condemn zwick's as evidence he should never be near a live football game. shoulda been 49-6, but i'll take it.
