re: be civil and tasteful

Well, what's the answer to the underlying question, honeycakes? Michael Moore's not running for President, so who cares about him.

Why do you like W so much?

re: be civil and tasteful

I don't care if Michael Moore is running for president or not. So many people are deciding their election opinions on his movie. And I wish that I could just interview this guy in a room with just the both of us- he may get me on some things, but I bet you anything that I could trap him. When he's live, he sometimes just doesn't know what he's talking about.

And W isn't really an ideal president, but mainly he fulfilled most of the Republican party's beliefs. I approved of the tax cuts (no, I'm not upper class), and look- here's my warmongering side- even with the faulty intelligence, I think that this ousting of Sadaam will be beneficial in the future.

I thought that it was worth it. Yes, there were mistakes made, and it's a bit messy, but I approved of it and I sincerely hope that if he has 4 more years, he'll fix it. And I will PRAY that if Kerry wins, he will handle this correctly- NO appeasement, NO letting the UN play the biggest role. I hope he will. But he keeps changing his position and beliefs, so God knows what he will actually do.

I can tell you what I really didn't approve on- Bush's immigration policy and the gay marriage thing. But I guess unless a LC Republican gets into the president's seat, it will always be on my list.

And honey, I am not a loon of the religious right because I do not believe in abortion. And I hope that going to church every week doesn't make me a loon of the religious right. If so, I don't care. I don't call Democrats the 'immoral left.' But what can I do about the name calling that happens?

But I don't think that any answer would satisfy you, would it?

re: be civil and tasteful

For the record, I never said that people who go to church every Sunday belong to the loony-tune part of the Republican party, or any party.

I was just answering the question: how can anyone support W? And I would still argue that the hard-core fundamentalist folks absolutely love him for the abortion and gay rights restrictions. I am not willing to cede the votes of people of faith to the Republicans. That party tried to co-opt that segment of the populace in 1980 and hasn't let go since. Sorry, people of faith can be hard-core Democrats too.

Most Democrats hate this President and his policies so much that they cannot believe anyone could like him. Many Republicans experienced the same thing during Clinton. When W was elected, he acknowledged the growing rift in America, and pledged to unify the country -- remember, "I am uniter not a divider"? Well, the exact opposite has happened -- the country has grown more fractious.

More than anything else, that's the reason I would like a new president. This one cannot do the job and these times are too important to leave the office in the hands of someone who has shown he cannot bring the country together.

I disagree with you on most of your policy statements, but I think reasonable people should be allowed to discuss and disagree. I do not think this administration believes that though: the trampling of civil liberties, the insistent and hateful way they use gay people as political pawns, and the marginalizing of any moderate voice in that party (to wit: Jim Jeffords) makes them, in my mind, incapable of running a country worthy of all Americans.

re: be civil and tasteful

If you spin issues one way, I can spin it another way in two seconds. The 'trampling of civil liberties' paragraph- I could spin it back to the center (or to the right, for you) in two seconds.

Democrats see what Republicans do differently, and Republicans see what Democrats do differently.

Ah, I guess there'll never be a middle world where both respect each other. I try to talk of Dems as respectfully as I can (unless they really did something to tick me off. I hardly ever mention Bill Clinton's 'big lie', as there are many other things to focus on, I believe.), but maybe I'm biased by saying that everyone who believes otherwise from the Democrat party totally gets it on this board.

I don't expect anyone here to agree with me, but if I don't call anyone names, it would be nice to have some courteous responses.

But it's then easier to say who's the classier one if everyone insults me and uses name-calling. re: be civil and tasteful

re: be civil and tasteful

Is that a bad thing? Do you mean cobbler, like peach or apple cobbler? Or do you mean cobbler, like Gepetto, a shoe repairer?

Which is it? Fruit and sugar and sweetness -- or old stale stinky shoe leather?

Either one is better than how I am now.

Ugh, the scent after playing tennis in 90 degree weather beats stinky shoe leather anyday.

Can one truly label a cobbler?

It's sad how you all continue to belive everything the left-controlled media tells you.

Proving once again that stupid people should not be allowed to vote.

A vote for John Kerry is a vote for bin Laden
A vote for John Edwards is a vote for bin Laden
A vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote for bin Laden
A vote for Ted Kennedy is a vote for bin Laden

And EricMDB uses the mentally handicapped rest room.

You keep making your assertions Eric, but you don't back them up, which is why everybody laughs at you. Please EXPLAIN what you mean and perhaps we'll all come to a better understanding.
